weaving, london and crafty things

Wednesday, 5 May 2010. I love these, they are just so intricately made. I know the notion of using recycling paper to create things isn't new but I do still find it really interesting everytime. The old stories of its previous use, the words in another context. The small scale just adds to the delicacy. You can buy them from her website as little pieces in a box or in a white frame for the wall which I think would look really lovely. I'm now a member of the Wallace Sewell team! Couldn't be happier :D.

weaving, london and crafty things: September 2009

http://www.heatherjaye.blogspot.com/2009_09_01_archive.html

Wednesday, 23 September 2009. Well thats me almost four months into my work placement with Wallace Sewell in London and I'm really loving it. The colours and textures that the designers Emma and Harriet create in their woven scarves and throws are so inspiring to me. If you haven't seen their work before check it out at www.wallacesewell.com or find us at week 2 of the Craft Council's 'Origin' show in Sommerset House. Subscribe to: Posts (Atom). weaving, london and crafty things: The Show

http://www.heatherjaye.blogspot.com/2009/05/show.html

Friday, 29 May 2009. The degree show so far has been great. Our fashion show at the VIP opening went done really well. One of my woven lengths was worn draped as a skirt so I thought I'd add a wee picture as I'm really pleased with the way it looked. Erin o'Conner came and was really lovely, she even bought a jacket that one of my classmates had designed, was very exciting! Saw your work in the degree show today and loved it! Good luck for the future - hope it is filled with looms, yarns and cloth.

Ruth Archibald-Swaans: September 2010

Thursday, 23 September 2010. Time for some history - this is my husband's grandparent's wedding silver, they were married in 1940. It was a kind gift to us and is in need of some TLC but first I wanted to record it as it is - I think that the colours in the tarnish are beautiful and manage to tell their own little story. http://rutharchibaldswaans.blogspot.com/2011_04_01_archive.html

Thursday, 21 April 2011. Do Good Design, David B. Berman. Sunday, 3 April 2011. Listening to Women's Hour on Radio 4 a wee while ago (yes, I know that must age me significantly, but it's so informative! And has kept me company while I have worked along) they featured an exhibition of Lucienne and Robin Day on at the Pallant House Gallery. I think that there is a clear linke between 'futuristic' imagery like this, and the sharp lines and block colours that Lucienne Day uses. Subscribe to: Posts (Atom).
