Under The Mercy Trees. When I first started working on it, with an infant and a solo law practice, the writing went very slowly. After my daughter started school the pace picked up. In 2007 8, my long-time writing group, the Flatiron Writers, won a grant from the North Carolina Arts Council and regional arts councils to publish a short-story anthology,. Irons in the Fire: Stories from the Flatiron Writers,. Where I blog about writing and legal issues for writers. HarperCollins accepted my novel.

Twitting. Tweetering. Tweeting–Whatever You Call It! March 20, 2013. I don’t do Twitter, because I already have too many time-sucks in my life, but here are my responses to Twitter interview questions posed for an Indie book event:. 1 Favorite book as a child? 2 What are you reading right now? The Swan Thieves by Elizabeth Kostova. 3 Why independent bookstores matter? There is no higher honor than being an Indie Bookstore “staff pick.”. 4 Favorite part of writing a book? The ending–I write it first .

For those of you who like a family tree to help keep characters straight in a family drama novel, here’s one my 6th grader drew for the Owenby Clan of Solace Fork:. Under The Mercy Trees. A beautifully-rendered, heartbreaking first novel about a man forced to face his troubled past when he returns to his small hometown in the mountains of North Carolina after the disappearance of his brother. 8211;Jill McCorkle, author of Going Away Shoes. Thursday, February 2, 2012. We, all of us, are keeping our chins up and looking toward spring cleaning, polishing and dusting off the collections and getting out on those sunny days and antiquing, cleaning off the gardening beds, collecting seeds and dreaming of growing gardens, letting the sun beat down on our face and breathing in the fresh cool air as we muse over what lies ahead. Claude's Cove: October 2011
http://claudescove.blogspot.com/2011_10_01_archive.html
Wednesday, October 26, 2011. Historical architecture towered above in color and texture and dimension as much as the people walking the streets. Music exuded from the crevices, around corners, rolling out into the streets with a spirit that could catch you up and wrap itself around you and squeeze you until you smiled. Music was in the air. Come fly with me, come fly come fly away. After a jolly old time with them, we had a short rest and went in search of our first Barbecue feast. Our choice of the ...

How to Heal a Broken Heart | The Write Idea
https://laurajcollins.wordpress.com/2014/10/22/how-to-heal-a-broken-heart
How to Heal a Broken Heart. 8212; ljcollins @ 10:56 am. I wrote the piece below and posted it to Facebook a while back. It seems that I also deal with broken hearts by starting new blogs. I started my first (semi-anonymous) blog when I was newly divorced and new to the whole concept of online community (pre-facebook, etc.). You can still find those old writings here: Wild and Precious. Each of these blogs fell by the wayside, so it may seem strange for me to start yet another (my fourth! Watch old black ...

Bootstrap 3 Mobile First Webpage Design - Heather Newton Designs
Bootstrap 3 Mobile First Webpage Design. Mobile Page Layout with Design Notes. I designed this sales page with a mobile first approach. “Mobile first” means that I planned out the simple, stacked layout that is best optimized for a mobile device first, and then made adjustments where necessary to optimize the design for a device with a wider screen. This approach will also make for more concise CSS once this project enters the development stage. See it without the grid. The design for this page is very c...

Unfurled | Reflections from on and off the mat
Reflections from on and off the mat. January 6, 2011. The “R” word. Posted by heathernguyen under Uncategorized. I came across this article in the Gaurdian. Today and thought it might be of interest, since it was for me! However, it is clear from my own limited studies, that the hatha yoga we all love and practice here in the west is just a sliver of what yoga is. It’s an entire system (a nice, western, secularized term we can all adhere to, don’t you think? December 5, 2010. Anyway, by lifting the base ...
ES2007S: Happy Blogging
Monday, November 19, 2012. Final reflection on learning. Now it has come to the end of the course . Or perhaps it might be only the beginning for us to. Put all the knowledge that we have learnt into practice and become them one day. In this course I found that my writing skill has improved dramatically compared to the way it was 3 months ago. This improvement is attributed to the amount of writing practices that we have employed through. Finishing the lesson requirement. I also like the lighthearted man...
