Textile and Mixed Media Artist. A walk up the hill. We have recently moved to a lovely house on the side of a steep hill, with a lovely nature reserve at the top. We went for a walk up to the top after breakfast, and I took my camera with me. I’m terrible at plant identification, so forgive me if I get any of these wrong! Rosehips by the gate. I love the patterns of the metalwork on this gate. Views over the Black Country. Lovely old style (but modern) lampposts, which remind me of Narnia. Day 222 ».

Textile and Mixed Media Artist. Posted in Adventures, Trips and Holidays. Today I went with some friends to Lowsonford, to see one of the statues in Anthony Gormley’s LAND. I haven’t got my photos off the camera yet to share here, but it was a wonderful experience. The statue itself is of a normal height, very angular, and of a lovely rusted iron. Textile and Mixed Media Artist. Posted in Image manipulation. A very busy day, with more packing and assembling flat pack furniture, an activity that my husband and I actually enjoy doing together! We also had a cooker and chest freezer delivery at the new house. With all that, there wasn’t much time for creativity, but I did do this quick image manipulation of the embroidery I did the other week, trying to get it to look painterly:. I also took a couple of photos of plants in our new garden.

Textile and Mixed Media Artist. Moka Pots is now finished! The weekend after next, it will be in the competition at the West Country Quilt Show. Where my lovely friend Hilary will also have a stand. I’m pleased with it. I can see all its flaws and imperfections, but it is the biggest and most cohesive thing I have made so far. Textile and Mixed Media Artist. Days 223 & 224. Today, I got my printer on the WiFi, so I was able to print to it directly from my tablet. I printed an image that I’d previously converted to black and white, and then traced over the main lines with permanent pen on acetate. I took some copies and played around with them, reducing and overlaying them. This one has the figure facing both left and right – I think it looks a bit like a knight:. And then a bit of image manipulation using the figures as a mask:.
