Caught this peregrine at Patricia Bay on the Saanich Inlet of southern Vancouver Island. It sat in one of the Douglas fir trees lining the beach, inconspicuous among the bald eagles and osprey spectacularly soaring around. You just can't get any peace at the beach anymore. Oldest Known Wild Bird and a New Mother at 60. 8211; A few weeks ago, the oldest known wild bird in the Northern Hemisphere was spotted at Midway Atoll National Wildlife Refuge in Hawaii. The bird, a female Laysan Albatross named Wisdom, is at least 60 years old; she is also a new mother.
