Jumping to Conclusions | In Mongolia
https://heathervelvet.wordpress.com/2015/03/19/jumping-to-conclusions
From clenched fists to open hands. Posted by Heather Johnson. Asymp; 2 Comments. It’s been over 2 weeks. That’s an unusual amount time for me to be sick. Yesterday I took a tour of the hospitals of Mongolia. I only went to 2. You get the picture. Reason being (as I’ve talked about before), my greatest fear is needles. I absolutely hate getting injections or blood drawn. It’s quite annoying actually. It’s frustrating that every time I have to get a shot or blood taken I have a near panic attack. He stood ...

From clenched fists to open hands. The Ride of Normal. Posted by Heather Johnson. Asymp; 1 Comment. It’s like one of those spinning rides at a fair. From clenched fists to open hands. Like a 3-Legged Race. Posted by Heather Johnson. Asymp; 4 Comments. I had walked down to the soccer field to watch. The kids were having a 3-legged race. I had planned to be no more than an observer. But he came to me. He who was more than a head shorter than me. Bright orange sash in hand. And before I knew it I was tied up. Ankle to ankle at the starting line. We weren’t very graceful. Foot stepping on foot. And halfway across the field I thought. The mess too messy.

From clenched fists to open hands. What Does Success Mean to You? Posted by Heather Johnson. Asymp; 4 Comments. It was a great day. Successful by many standards. There were kids in my classroom the whole day and it was productive. It wasn’t just hanging out, but actual English lessons- how rare! When the time came for my most regular student, I had cut out a bunch of pieces of paper that had questions written on them to practice conversation. One of the questions was, What does success mean to you? Yeste...

From clenched fists to open hands. And the Darkness Does Not Overcome. Posted by Heather Johnson. Asymp; 2 Comments. Eight kids in a small hut. One candle to illuminate the darkness. This night at camp we gathered in small groups as daylight disappeared for the purpose of listening to the kids share their dreams. There were a bunch of older boys who were new to camp. Or would they brush it off and turn it into a joke. Keeping their hearts carefully guarded and closed? They took the risk. I’m proud of them.
