Diary of a Capitalist. A diary of events from a capitalist perspective. Saturday, October 22, 2005. I am a huge fan of Isaac Asimov, he was a great author. I’ve just started to read. His first robot book. I’m about three chapters in and I’m pretty sure I’ve managed to pin down the central theme of the book. Asimov made no secret of the fact that he was a socialist, in. Diary of a Capitalist. A diary of events from a capitalist perspective. Sunday, November 27, 2005. Recently I’ve been playing a lot of poker online, and a bit of bricks and mortar style in a local live tournament. It’s a great game; my favourite version is Texas holdem’ although I am learning seven card stud and Omaha. If I fold am I going to miss flopping top trips (three of a kind)? It’s a difficult choice, but life is about the difficult choices. Posted by Dan at 7:44 PM. Monday, November 07, 2005.

Diary of a Capitalist: March 2006
http://capitalistdiary.blogspot.com/2006_03_01_archive.html
Diary of a Capitalist. A diary of events from a capitalist perspective. Friday, March 24, 2006. Litter or be fined! A man was fined 50 for throwing away his junk mail. He was charged for dumping his domestic refuse in a public bin! Mind you, with the NHS spending 9m on art in the last two years when it has a 900m deficit they need every penny they can get. PS One single hospital spent 70,000 on a large polished rock and hired an art director for 41,000pa when it alone has a 30m deficit. I do still exist.

Diary of a Capitalist. A diary of events from a capitalist perspective. Wednesday, December 21, 2005. Posted by Dan at 12:15 PM. I have mentioned the hurtful impact of trade restrictions before, but this article from the BBC. Demonstrates their negative impact perfectly. Workers in the Chinese countryside who have taken it upon themselves to use a skill of their own to lift themselves out of poverty are being stopped by the same people who pretend to want to help. The intollerance of organised religion to other faiths is not shown on the personal level any more clearly than by this video. Posted by Dan at 1:15 PM. I am interested in economics and I have very strong political views. I am studying engineering and trade the capital markets when I'm not in the cinema, gym or at the pub drinking southern comfort and coke. View my complete profile. The Ayn Rand institute.

Diary of a Capitalist. A diary of events from a capitalist perspective. Monday, July 18, 2005. While we must pursue the terror network that allowed these people to attack London in such a horrific way, we must also start to understand why these people, some with young families and all with comfortable lives felt it necessary to commit this atrocity, only then will we stand a chance of defeating the threat. Diary of a Capitalist. A diary of events from a capitalist perspective. Friday, August 26, 2005. I got back from Amsterdam last night. It was a good trip, several things struck me about the place, one was the different way that they serve beer over there, most people use half pint glasses and they don’t fill them up! Diary of a Capitalist. A diary of events from a capitalist perspective. Thursday, June 30, 2005. Firstly, the system is relatively fair, the flat tax allows easy calculation of tax and a proper incentive to earn more and to reinvest profits, while the amount given to each person is done so equally and does not contain any bias. Secondly, the system does not need a huge bureaucracy. Posted by Dan at 10:41 AM. Wednesday, June 29, 2005. Posted by Dan at 10:47 AM. Tuesday, June 28, 2005. Of course some could...

Diary of a Capitalist. A diary of events from a capitalist perspective. Friday, April 29, 2005. I came across this article by Walter Williams and thought that it is a perfect description of the benefits of capitalism. There are some arguments so illogical that only an intellectual or politician can believe them. One of those arguments is: capitalism benefits the rich more than it benefits the 'common man.'. Let's look at it. The whole article from Capitalism magazine is here. Posted by Dan at 2:37 PM.

Diary of a Capitalist. A diary of events from a capitalist perspective. Tuesday, May 31, 2005. The Union shall work for a Europe of sustainable development based on balanced economic growth, with a social market economy aiming at full employment and social progress. This to me sounds like the perfect constitutional arrangement for the development of a socialist state, why not a free market economy, the social market economy has far to much leeway for rent seeking* 1.
