This is a very short but handy shell script for quickly creating a "package". Pkgmaker takes a list of directories or files as argument and includes them in compressed, uuencoded form inside an installation script. It works as a replacement for the init program, which is usually the first program to be run after the kernel is loaded. In a virtual server (jail) there is no such thing. This makes it rather difficult to restart a virtual server from the inside, as well as from the outside. You can get the source code here.

It currently has 1 PIII 1000 Mhz processor, 3 x 40 GB IDE Harddisks in software raid, 1.5 GB Physical Memory and 1 dual 100 Mb NIC. The OS is FreeBSD (off course) and we use the jail(8) feature to create separate virtual servers on each of its 16 IP addresses. Here's another picture :-). Questions, Remarks, Ideas?

The dynamic DNS daemon has been retired. The reason for this is that nowadays BIND will natively provide the same functionality and more to dynamically update DNS zonefiles. BZERK will continue to offer dynamic DNS services free of charge after we have reconfigured our setup to use BIND in stead of DDNSD. Questions, Remarks, Ideas?
