Sunday, June 3, 2012. I Love My Dog, Baby. How could I resist? Since most of my days lately revolve around caring for and being entertained by a certain canine friend, any updates on what's going on around here naturally involve Trixie. Here are some of the ups and downs- but mostly ups- of being Trixie's "Doggy-momma," as my mother-in-law puts it. The Witching Hour, as Jordan and I call it, usually occurs sometime between seven and ten in the evening. This is when her full name of Bellatrix becomes ...

Saturday, September 18, 2010. We planted a garden this summer, thinking that it would be an exciting frugal endeavor. How hard could it be, after all, to grow a couple bell peppers, a tomato and a zucchini? We lost hope. We forgot to water, didn’t fertilize. Resigned ourselves to many hours and several dollars lost in that dirt out there. We had abandoned our garden, practically leaving it for dead! But there it was, the miracle of life burgeoning before our eyes. We'll just keep going on by ourselves, n...

Tuesday, June 12, 2012. The Editor in Me. Many of us depend on spell check to save our tails, but spell check is not very good at checking for these kinds of grammar and punctuation mistakes. So here are a few reminders and a few tricks I've learned to make sure I don't look like a noob when I write something, whether it is in a blog post or just a comment on Facebook. Overcorrecting: "Someone and I" vs. "Someone and me". Then you MUST say me. Went to a concert last week. CORRECT! Especially since most w...

Thursday, June 14, 2012. A New Dresser (Kind Of). This dresser has been in my family for who knows how long. When my next oldest sister went to college when I was seven, I inherited it along with her bedroom. I'm not sure when she got it, but in any case, it has been mine ever since and when I got married and needed furniture my mom let me take it. As you can see, it is a rather plain, ugly old thing, with a wonderful missing handle on one of the drawers. After being inspired by this. The Editor in Me.

Thursday, February 9, 2012. Maybe I need one of these. During my freshman year of college I learned many new things, but talking in my sleep was not a skill I anticipated acquiring as part of my higher education. My roommate at the time, Bethany, is infamous for her sleepwalking escapades. Fortunately, there would be many more nights ahead in which my shouts would scare the heebie-jeebies out of him. Like the time I was just positive that the stove was tipping over, and I had to catch it. Or the ...Jorda...
