It has a population of about 900,000 inhabitants. Qiqihar is the second largest city in Heilongjiang Province. The majority of the people are Han Chinese. Qiqihar, zhalong nature reserve. Friday, 13 April 2007. Red-crowned cranes at the Zhalong Nature Reserve. The Zalong Nature Reserve, located in the Songhua Nen river plain of Heilongjiang district, is the largest wetland reserve in China. It is located about 30 kilometers from Qiqihar, in the west of Heilongjiang. The reserve is established in 1979.
