Thursday, 25 October 2012. Life in the outback! After almost a year I have finally left Melbourne, and moved to Alice Springs, right in the middle of Australia! It was sad to say goodbye to Melbourne and all my friends there, but I decided it was time to go somewhere different, and Alice Springs certainly is different! It's actually in the middle of nowhere! And the weather is SO different to Melbourne! Since I've been here there have been 9 days in a row where the temperature has got to over 38 degrees!

Monday, 17 January 2011. I decided to book myself into a hostel for my first few nights in Sydney to try and get over my jetlag before starting OzIntro the following week! Friday, 19 August 2011. Managed to have a break from the farm for 9 days to a place called Malanda! Which has places all over the world offering this kind of work. I really recommend this website to anyone travelling on a budget! So I had a look on the website and found a guesthouse in Malanda about 40 minutes drive from the farm in Mareeba. I phoned them up and organised for us both to arrive on the Monday morning (8th Aug)! We had nice clean sheets and quilts, TWO pillows, and an ensuite bathroom!

Friday, 18 November 2011. The next few days in Melbourne were mainly spent recovering from Neighbours Night, and for me, job hunting! We wondered around Melbourne a few times which was nice. Went to Federation Square, went to some markets in Fitzroy, walked along the Southbank, and went to the beach at St. Kilda! We also went to a Good Charlotte gig! Tuesday, 27 September 2011. Cairns, Cape Tribulation and Port Douglas. My first destination after the farm was Cairns. I left the farm at 5.30am to get a lift with the farmer - better than spending $30 for a taxi to Mareeba, then $17 on the bus to Cairns! Once in Cairns I checked into Global Waterfront Backpackers. A really good hostel on the esplanade, right opposite the lagoon, and it was really cheap! Spent my first day there just wondering round, went to the shops and treated myself to a new bikini.
