Saturday, July 3, 2010. Our last item on this memorable visit was our canal trip. We visited a number of old and new canals, among them the singing cavern. At the end of our trip several children had a go at 'legging' the heavy boat along the canal. Good night, we'll be with you for the last time tomorrow. Trying on hats at the millner. Enjoying typical fish and chips. The children used up some of their limitless energy playing typical Victorian games. The chainmaker at his forge. Just imagine the smell.

Friday, January 2, 2009. Trish and I just started on this blogspot thing because we thought that our sister Lisa's was really neat. Today was an average day for us. We had some downtime in the morning, ate brunch, ran a couple of errands, took Bella for a walk by the river, went out to feed and play with the horses, and then came home for more downtime because it was too busy on the mountain. One of our Chinese intern teacher is also a calligraphy master. After class one day he taught us how to write a few caracters! Well it's much harder than it seems! He said that when we wrote our lines were too straight. Calligraphy is not like writting, it's an art. The end of the lines have to be slightly thicker and rounded. And each caracter has to be well balanced and in harmony with the others. I did my best. and it looked pretty good to me. Oooh you caracter seem too happy! Each statue is unique!
