読んでいる方の中にはもうすでにこんがらがってきている人もいるかもしれませんが、基本的に印を押すモノを判子と言い、判子の印で押した形を印鑑と言います。判子と印鑑の見分けがつかない方はことわざの太鼓判を捺すと関連つけて考えると判りやすいと思います。ことわざの太鼓判を捺すの意味は大きな判子を捺すほど確実な事と言うモノで、確実な保証する場合などによく使われ、言葉中の太鼓判のの大きさは文字通り太鼓サイズの大きさの判子の事を意味します。この意味を理解しておけば印鑑と判子の違いが判りやすくなると思います。最近では判子を専門に紹介や宣伝をしているサイトの中にも判子と印鑑の区別がついていない事が多かったりと近年では印鑑と判子の違いが曖昧になっています。銀行や契約時でも印鑑と言えば判子を出してくれる事からさほど気にする必要は在りませんが、知っていて損は無い知識だと思います。また先ほど少し出てきた印影と印章を軽く説明したいと思います。印影とは先ほども書いた通り印鑑の別名で印章の影がつい様に見えるため印影と言う名前になっています。
