Ik zit op de rand van een oude krater. Op een paar honderd meter voor mij spuit de. Vulkaan lavafonteinen de lucht in. Links naast mij stroomt de lava gestaag voorbij. De hitte is verzengend. Vulkanen hebben altijd al onze "warme" belangstelling gehad. Zo zijn er in de loop der jaren al een aantal bekeken dan wel beklommen : Poas. In Costa Rica, Mayon. In de Filippijnen, Osorno. In Chili en voor dit najaar staan bezoeken aan de Haleakala. Met de aktieve Pu`u `O`o krater. Op 31 juli vliegen we naar Catani...
