A Rural Paradise

Thursday, 16 July 2015. Been very busy with looking after all growing areas. The weather has not been particularly brilliant with the cold weather slowing everything down. We reckon that we are about six weeks or more with our produce. The lettuce leaves and herb sales continue apace with customers always pleased to have freshly picked local produce. We are waiting patiently for the tomatoes to ripen! The picture above is in the AQUADROME. Waiting for the toms to ripen! Rooting around in the undergrowth.

A Rural Paradise: Sunday 29th March 2015

http://www.herbsfromwales.blogspot.com/2015/03/sunday-29th-march-2015.html

Sunday, 29 March 2015. Sunday 29th March 2015. It has been a very cold week with frosts in the morning, so we have to keep the young plants like tomatoes well protected with fleece. We are also using old food trays containing clay balls for drainage, some well rotted manure (home grown) and compost to grow peas, courgettes, sweet peas and things yet to be decided. New high fencing is being arranged. This is Bertie -the fence hurdler. He is a Bouvier des Flandres and a real rascal ( much loved though).

Sunday, 15 March 2015. Sunday 15th March 2015. The picture above shows to the left the tomato growing area ready for the plants when they are big enough. The central channels are young lettuce and wild rocket plants. Everything is very slow and the light levels have not been good. The picture below shows some of the 150 tomato plants that will go into the channels in the left top picture. This year we are growing Octavio, Tigerella and some cherry tomato varieties. A Rural Paradise: Thursday 12th March 2015

http://www.herbsfromwales.blogspot.com/2015/03/thursday-12th-march-2015.html

Thursday, 12 March 2015. Thursday 12th March 2015. Its one of those days today - its pouring with rain when we wake up at 05.50 and its still raining now at 15.55. There is mud and water everywhere. We have managed to get some of the fish filters cleaned and get some work done on the new watercress beds, put new seeds down and wetted down the clay balls in the grow beds. This is an existing watercress bed and apart from two weeks of frost - has been cropped every week. Subscribe to: Post Comments (Atom).
