Here's What We're Drinkin': A nice red blend for under $10

http://hereswhatweredrinkin.blogspot.com/2008/06/nice-red-blend-for-under-10.html

Sunday, June 8, 2008. A nice red blend for under $10. Thanks to a recent wine class, your Two Wine Nuts discovered a new everyday red that will go with a variety of meals. In Columbia Valley (Washington) is a blend of Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, and Syrah – hence the C. Name According to the back label, this 2006. That being said, we like this wine! We are two wine nuts. Labels: $10 or less. Subscribe to: Post Comments (Atom). Here's What We're Drinkin'. We are two wine nuts. With a Seriously Fun Hobby a...

Here's What We're Drinkin': New to us: White Merlot

http://hereswhatweredrinkin.blogspot.com/2008/07/new-to-us-white-merlot.html

Tuesday, July 8, 2008. New to us: White Merlot. So with a good track record and a sense of adventure, we waltzed over to Wal-Mart after overhearing a nearby diner rave about the White Merlot to be found there. We had heard of White Zinfandel but not White Merlot so we were very curious. A word about these white wines made from red grapes. Yes, Zinfandel comes in red, too! It’s all in the skins. As promised, Wal-Mart offered a 2006 Beringer White Merlot. How did we like it? We are two wine nuts. With a Se...

Here's What We're Drinkin': A Special Occasion Cab and Corkage Fees

http://hereswhatweredrinkin.blogspot.com/2008/12/special-occasion-cab-and-corkage-fees.html

Monday, December 15, 2008. A Special Occasion Cab and Corkage Fees. Earlier this month, your Two Wine Nuts had a special occasion to celebrate so we pulled out. A “special occasion” bottle of 1992 Silver Oak Cabernet Sauvignon. From Napa Valley and headed to a favorite restaurant. Yes, you are allowed to bring your own wine to a restaurant! But doing so can often start a ritual with the wait staff that we have only learned through experience. So with all that, how was our special occasion Cabernet? Huh J...

Here's What We're Drinkin': March 2008

http://hereswhatweredrinkin.blogspot.com/2008_03_01_archive.html

Monday, March 17, 2008. It’s been quite a while since the winemaker of your Two Wine Nuts gave an update about what is currently happening on the fermenting front. We are two wine nuts. Friday, March 7, 2008. At $10, this Cabernet is over-priced. In two previous posts, we have reviewed some new offerings from Cost Plus World Market. Presumably in an attempt to introduce people to some traditional California wines at great prices, World Market has recently introduced Chard-on-yeah! Perhaps our biggest dis...

Here's What We're Drinkin': A great Rioja Crianza

http://hereswhatweredrinkin.blogspot.com/2008/10/great-rioja-crianza.html

Tuesday, October 28, 2008. A great Rioja Crianza. A local wine store often hosts wine tasting nights. This is common and a great way to try new and oddball stuff without a big cash outlay. And it’s smart business for the wine shop because if you find something you like, chances are good you will buy at least one bottle to enjoy at home. And this is how we ended up with a tasty bottle of 2003 Rioja Vega Crianza. OK, so we now know what Rioja is. What does Crianza mean? It is the same as Crianza. We bought...

Woodhaven Ramblings: THE FAIR 2015 ~ Day 6

http://toniatwoodhaven.blogspot.com/2015/08/the-fair-2015-day-6.html

Thursday, August 13, 2015. THE FAIR 2015 Day 6. Wow, we are past the half-way mark with the Fair. It seems seconds and years at the same time. Weird how so many things are like that. Today was the day that my llamas buddies and their humans arrived at the Fair! Seeing Rojo and Smokey and Lori and Dave and Shannon and Reese made the Llama Greenway finally feel like home. And home it shall be for the rest of the Fair, as I seem to naturally gravitate there when I’m not hungry. Llovely llamas meeting friends.

Woodhaven Ramblings: THE FAIR 2015! ~ Day 9

http://toniatwoodhaven.blogspot.com/2015/08/the-fair-2015-day-9.html

Sunday, August 16, 2015. As we were leaving the Fairgrounds tonight, a little boy asked his mom what time it was. 8220;Oh, it’s late! It’s about 9:30.” And here I was feeling old and guilty for leaving so early. The Fair closes at 11:00 tonight but I just don’t have it in me to stay that long, especially with an early church morning tomorrow and then a full day stalking the incoming new Fair Court. I definitely need to be rested up for that. I tried very hard to hold it together until I was out of earshot.

Woodhaven Ramblings: THE FAIR 2015 ~ Day 7

http://toniatwoodhaven.blogspot.com/2015/08/the-fair-2015-day-7.html

Friday, August 14, 2015. THE FAIR 2015 Day 7. Today started out with laundry and emails and a reminder that the electrician is coming tomorrow morning. Oh joy. As much as I try to ignore real life during the Fair, it has a way of sneaking in when I am distracted by corn dog earrings. Blah. The one on the left is half-eaten. And no, I didn't eat it. It came that way. Just when we were starting to wonder if a more pressing engagement had pre-empted us, They arrived. CAN YOU BELIEVE IT? With the Fair Court ...

Woodhaven Ramblings: THE FAIR 2015 ~ Day 8

http://toniatwoodhaven.blogspot.com/2015/08/the-fair-2015-day-8.html

Saturday, August 15, 2015. THE FAIR 2015 Day 8. We had to set an alarm this morning because the electrician was coming to reinstall some lighting in our cabinetry. Imagine my surprise when the first thing I heard on the radio were the words “Clark County Fair.” Although the station was running a contest and giving away free tickets to the Fair, my first thought was “The Fair - it’s EVERYWHERE! Rain, glorious rain. Everyone was so happy! The sign will advertise sunscreen tomorrow. Teenagers are so fun!

Here's the thing: ...

Here's the thing: . Sunday, February 21, 2010. 8220;You’re a good player! 8221; enthused my niece Sasha, then about 5 years old. I think this might be the best compliment I’ve ever gotten. We were sprawled on the floor of my apartment playing – I don’t remember, really – something from the toy closet. It’s funny how some things you hear about yourself – for better and. For worse – are immediately and seamlessly integrated into your identity. A good player as a child. Here’s me playing along:. I’ve ...

Here's What We Eat

Here's What We Eat. Friday, March 30, 2012. Current health goal #1: cure my pre-diabetic condition. It seems that mommy has spent too much time helping everyone else and not herself. Back in February, registered for a blood sugar balancing retreat at Kripalu. Since we pay out of pocket until our medical bills hit $7,500, I'd be paying for them either way. They have to get done, though. Labels: Blood Sugar Solution. Thursday, February 2, 2012. Are you new to broth? Looooove the broth. I have an online...

Here's What We're Drinkin'

Tuesday, January 27, 2009. A tasty sweet wine that’s hard to pronounce. One of our favorite recipes is best paired with a sweet wine, which often means either a sweet Riesling (Rieslings can be either sweet or dry) or a Gewürztraminer. A few nights ago we had our favorite tortellini and prosciutto in a parmesan cream sauce and paired it with a 2006 Maryhill Gewürztraminer. We are two wine nuts. Labels: $10 or less. Monday, December 15, 2008. A Special Occasion Cab and Corkage Fees. A “special occas...

what works | Just another WordPress.com weblog

One of Gilmour’s hopes has been dashed…. On February 2, 2009. So……I am an employee of one of the biggest media employers in the world, working, like everyone else in the business, to understand what technological change, and mass participation in journalism, (making news might be more accurate) will mean. What will it mean for politics? And frankly, on a more selfish note, what will it mean for me? Finally, some might say, focussing on the issue that Gilmour identified a long time ago. The BBC project I-...

Lasagna – courtesy of Jamie’s Food Revolution. For the Bolognese Sauce. 2 slices of smoked bacon. 6 cloves of garlic (he calls for 2, I say you can never have enough garlic). 2 heaped teaspoons of dried oregano. 1 pound ground beef or pork (I did a mixture, half and half). 1 28 ounce can of diced tomatoes. 2 ounces grated Parmesan.
