Making the Mill House greener. A look at installing, monitoring and using renewable energy sources. Tuesday, 24 April 2012. Why we are not 'Green'. Mike's note: Anne now has posting access to this blog, so, here she is with a perhaps somewhat controversial post to kick things off. I'll add a comment at the end.]. This is my first post on this site so I thought I'd start with why we are not Green. We are NOT 'Green' with a capital 'G'. I would like to say that I am at least green enough to never water the...

Making the Mill House greener. A look at installing, monitoring and using renewable energy sources. Saturday, 23 March 2013. The first year of Solar. We have today arrived at our solar panels' anniversary. so here are the figures:. KWh (as read on the sunny beam yesterday) although Mike would like me to add half of the 22nd of this year as we got the meter turned on at lunchtime on 22nd last year! This makes the absolute total for the year 2607.14. So we then plugged these into pvoutput.org. I will put 2...

Making the Mill House greener: The Money Stuff
http://green.the-mill-house.org.uk/2012/07/the-money-stuff.html
Making the Mill House greener. A look at installing, monitoring and using renewable energy sources. Sunday, 1 July 2012. Yay, today we passed the 1000 kWh mark in production on our PV solar panels so I thought I'd note how we are doing so far. This means that for the current expected year we will save/earn £1000, so at £8500 expenditure we will get our money back in 8-9 years. Of course if we had our money in the bank it would have got us some interest so we will allow another 10% on the ou...

Making the Mill House greener. A look at installing, monitoring and using renewable energy sources. Wednesday, 16 May 2012. Don't do the laundry on the Eco setting. Or, yet another case for monitoring. We have a new, shiny, Bosch Advantixx 7. Washing machine. Bought, not least, because of it being a Which? Best Buy, its excellent A rating on energy consumption, and a nice button marked "Eco Program". We also now have one of Current Cost. S Individual Appliance Monitors. The water takes almost exactly the...

Making the Mill House greener. A look at installing, monitoring and using renewable energy sources. Saturday, 19 January 2013. Anne's end of year natter. This is my 3rd posting to this blog. We have had our first zero day on our energy production since the solar panels went in. It is most likely due to the 4 inches of snow on the roof - which is not very photolucent! Radiolucent is the X-ray equivalent word so I reckon that photolucent is the correct description). We have just bought a new power supply, ...
