Playing in the mud for a living. June 12, 2012. I’ve been holding off on posting until I could find my card reader back and upload pics, but that’s just led to a stupidly long delay between posts. So. Last week I was wrapped up in sgraffito and crewelwork. Out of the four cups and two bowls thrown…. One cup had its handle crack off. One cup was too ugly to fire. In the glaze firing, the glaze crawled off the footrim of the two surviving cups. April 25, 2012. August 6, 2011. There has already been some sp...

Playing in the mud for a living. GUYS IT’S A FLOWER! April 10, 2015. LOOK AT THIS THING! It’s a LIVING green thing! There’s a two-inch wide strip of flower bed where the snow has melted, and this beauty has poked its head up, along with two spindlier things I presume to be either crocuses or glory of the snow. All we need are two days of rain to get rid of the snow and I just know there will be more of these things ready to spring up…. Leave a Reply Cancel reply. Enter your comment here. One of a kind.

Playing in the mud for a living. March 15, 2015. These have actually been out of the kiln for a few weeks, but I hadn’t posted them. So here’s a look. I’ve been getting them out, trying to get a feel for them. Learning lots about hand-feel and leverage and handle angles…. Hopefully I’ll have all my ideas about utensils sorted out and organized in time to make a bunch for spring craft fairs. Leave a Reply Cancel reply. Enter your comment here. Playing in the mud for a living. Tag Archives: beach fire. July 22, 2012. It’s the middle of July! That means the beach fire–the main annual fundraiser for the clay studio–is just around the corner! In unrelated news, I ate the first tomato from the back step today. Will take a few layers of skin off your hands, but is more likely to survive a pit firing than the regular stuff. 2] Capelin don’t d much. Just kinda burn away and leave a teeeeeensy bit of gray. If you’re lucky[3]. August 13, 2011. I was wor...

December 24, 2009. 12:24 am on xmas eve, and I’m finally done running around. Phew. The big bowl from Dec. 6th exploded in the kiln. June 28, 2009. So I’m very proud of myself today:. Six and three pounds; thrown, destroyed, re-wedged and re-thrown twice each. But they’re made, and well-centred, and I’m happy. Would’...April 14, 2009.
