Viva la Tacky: The Final Countdown
http://vivalatacky.blogspot.com/2013/11/the-final-countdown.html
You're only in Jerusalem once, so embrace the tackiness about you, let people laugh, and relish it. Monday, November 4, 2013. Tonight I am to be set apart as a full time missionary and my quest to serve the Mexican people will begin. Needless to say, I'm just a tinsy-winsy bit. Fourth best field trip ever. (inside joke). The week after Galilee we had a field trip that took us to Qumran, Masada, the Dead Sea, and another place which name escapes me now. but it had a waterfall! Most definitely in my top fi...

Adventures in Raising Men & a Little Lady: Halfway Point
http://cara-raisingmen.blogspot.com/2015/07/the-last-couple-of-weeks-since-we-got.html
Thursday, July 23, 2015. While at home Ben and I worked everyday, while the kids did chores, worked on merit badge requirements, practiced the piano, and played with friends. We attended a picnic to say farewell to one of our favorite families, friends, and neighbors - so we had to get a picture of the boys together to remember Gavin after he moves back to Utah. Why do people move back to Utah? Don't they know Virginia is the place to be? And I've been going out in the morning about 3 days a week to walk...

Adventures in Raising Men & a Little Lady: May 2015
http://cara-raisingmen.blogspot.com/2015_05_01_archive.html
Sunday, May 24, 2015. Saturday morning we woke up at 6 AM in Munich (midnight back home) to get ready for our return flight. We packed up, cleaned out our room, ate our final German breakfast, and checked out. For the flight from Munich to Chicago we got to sit in Global First class - which is pretty amazing. You get your own bed, practically, and a 7 course meal with ice cream and all the toppings. No wonder I gained 3 pounds on this trip! Seventh Day in Germany. Waking up Friday morning it wasn't raini...

Adventures in Raising Men & a Little Lady: July 2014
http://cara-raisingmen.blogspot.com/2014_07_01_archive.html
Tuesday, July 29, 2014. Sorry my blog posts are getting fewer and farther between! I'm sure part of that is due to me trying to keep up with my Avon blog, and Facebook posts. It wasn't even too hot, but the humidity was at maximum - so there was a lot of sweating involved. Still, it was a great day to be outside having fun. We had six stations: stilts, Joseph Smith stick pull (most of the sticks got snapped), donut on a string, fish pond, tug of war, and the three-legged race. See Chloe at the fish pond?

Adventures in Raising Men & a Little Lady: March 2015
http://cara-raisingmen.blogspot.com/2015_03_01_archive.html
Friday, March 27, 2015. Well, it's Friday again and I need to update the blog with what's been going on around here! Last weekend Ben, Tyson and Anthony all went on yet another Boy Scout campout. It's usually just the Deacons (12-13 yr old Scouts) but every Spring and Fall the 11-yr old Scouts get to join them on the campout. So that's why Ben (the 11-yr old Scout Leader) and Anthony went. It was also my birthday that weekend, so I enjoyed getting cards in the mail and gifts! Grandma and Grandpa, Poppy a...

Adventures in Raising Men & a Little Lady: What a Great (Wet) Week
http://cara-raisingmen.blogspot.com/2015/07/what-great-wet-week.html
Sunday, July 12, 2015. What a Great (Wet) Week. We were in and out of the lake - rain or shine. I mean, if you're wet, you're wet, right? The boys were working on earning the motor boating and water sports merit badge with Uncle Jason, so they were out in the boat several times a day. But occasionally the rest of us would get a turn, and Ben took us out in the pouring rain one afternoon. Aunika came with us because she has a great sense of adventure. He's still working on that merit badge. On Thursday Ty...

Adventures in Raising Men & a Little Lady: The Last Weeks of Summer
http://cara-raisingmen.blogspot.com/2015/08/the-last-weeks-of-summer.html
Monday, August 10, 2015. The Last Weeks of Summer. We are down to just the last 3 weeks of summer, and we're trying to milk it for all it's worth. The big boys are working on wrapping up rank advancements and merit badges. Tyson passed his board of review for Life Scout! I'm so proud of all his hard work. In addition to the 6 merit badges he earned at Scout Camp he has completed 4 additional MBs on his own: chess, motor boating (thanks Uncle Jason! I've also been working on my running program again, usin...

Adventures in Raising Men & a Little Lady: April 2015
http://cara-raisingmen.blogspot.com/2015_04_01_archive.html
Monday, April 20, 2015. April is such a beautiful month around here. The trees are blossoming, the grass is green again, and neighbors are all out pruning shrubs, planting flowers and spreading mulch. The weather is still nice and the colors are bright and pretty! Chloe likes to try to new hairstyles, so we took a picture of one we did last week - of course it's hard to really see it, but was cute. Later in the afternoon we picked up the Boy Scouts who had each earned a couple merit badges. Yay! Tyson is...

Adventures in Raising Men & a Little Lady: August 2014
http://cara-raisingmen.blogspot.com/2014_08_01_archive.html
Monday, August 25, 2014. Grandma Comes for a Visit. We love it when Grandma comes! She brings donuts, and craft projects, and goodies.and then takes half the kids home with her. Thank you Grandma! All the kids got to paint a decorative bird house to add to Grandma Nutt's collection that she has hanging in all her trees around the house. Even Penny got in on the action. She just wanted to do PINK. All different shades of pink and pink glitter. Sunday, August 24, 2014. We got up early and got to the beach ...
