A Good Story Later: December 2014
http://agoodstorylater.blogspot.com/2014_12_01_archive.html
A Good Story Later. It may not be funny now, but it will be a good story later! Sunday, December 28, 2014. A couple of nights ago I dreamed I was entrusted with a beautiful two year old African American child to care for and love . . . and I lost her. I searched and searched, all the while berating myself for being so careless. You don't have to be Freud to figure THAT one out. I drove over to talk to the officer. He was reasonable and immediately got it. "Why's she here? For you to browse. And keep it i...

A Good Story Later: milestones
http://agoodstorylater.blogspot.com/2015/04/milestones.html
A Good Story Later. It may not be funny now, but it will be a good story later! Sunday, April 26, 2015. Wright School graduation, 2009. One of my favorite things about Facebook is seeing pictures of your kids' milestones: first tooth lost, first day of school, birthdays, proms, driver's license, weddings. These are all touch points highlighting our commonality, our shared culture and community. We smile at others' pictures today, knowing we'll post ours tomorrow. Except when we don't. She is presently un...

A Good Story Later: August 2012
http://agoodstorylater.blogspot.com/2012_08_01_archive.html
A Good Story Later. It may not be funny now, but it will be a good story later! Friday, August 10, 2012. Out of the nest. Not too long ago, I had a baby, a cute little chubby cheeked thing. At least it FEELS like just a bit ago, and I still have my baby weight to prove it, so it must be true. It's an odd thing though—I dropped her off at college today. She was never a clingy child, but oh, how quickly a mom can become superfluous! She knows how to take the bus and can get around Chapel Hill/ Carrboro wit...

A Good Story Later: Do not be afraid
http://agoodstorylater.blogspot.com/2012/12/do-not-be-afraid.html
A Good Story Later. It may not be funny now, but it will be a good story later! Monday, December 24, 2012. Do not be afraid. Our Christmas Eve tradition is to go to the 5:00 pm service, one that includes a slide show narrative of the Christmas story as told by Luke and enacted by children in our parish. For years it was my pleasure to put this show together, a job I loved because every year I found something new in the story. Tonight I watched with equal joy(plus no stress! Tonight I feel peaceful and ca...

A Good Story Later: a really long Facebook status
http://agoodstorylater.blogspot.com/2014/01/a-really-long-facebook-status.html
A Good Story Later. It may not be funny now, but it will be a good story later! Tuesday, January 7, 2014. A really long Facebook status. When you read the news about a teenager shot by the police. And you know that a thousand or maybe ten thousand more moments like that might allow him to not spend years in a state mental hospital and so you do it again and again because it's where redemption lies and you hope maybe someone else will do it for your kid. You know, that. January 7, 2014 at 6:41 PM. Stories...

A Good Story Later: March 2015
http://agoodstorylater.blogspot.com/2015_03_01_archive.html
A Good Story Later. It may not be funny now, but it will be a good story later! Tuesday, March 17, 2015. The sound of hearts breaking. I was shown to the communal visiting room and waited as other children came, but not Elizabeth. After a few minutes, the visitor supervisor asked me to come with her. As we walked down the hall, I heard animal-like screaming in the distance. "Is that Elizabeth? I asked. She nodded as she showed me in the small room. My other kid doesn't do that! A Good Story Later: September 2012
http://agoodstorylater.blogspot.com/2012_09_01_archive.html
A Good Story Later. It may not be funny now, but it will be a good story later! Friday, September 14, 2012. How Lindsay singlehandedly saved Al Gore's press conference. They looked at her silently. Yikes. "You know, for volunteers who would like to help, but would have to bring their kids? My voice trailed off as they turned their attention to me. Okay, obviously a bad idea. The silence continued. They looked at each other. "That's brilliant! One of them finally said. "Let's choose a room.". Which is how...
