We arrived in Namche Bazar in the rain yesterday afternoon after a strenuous climb from Toktok, our first stop after Lukla airport. We are currently camping at 3.600 m and (fingers crossed) I haven't had any symptoms of AMS yet. We caught our first glimpse of Everest this morning and had a magnificent view of Ama Dablam during our hike up to 3.800 m. There may be another update later when we return to Namche but no guarantees.

This means I have achieved my target, thanks to all of you! Furthermore, Jo and I finally had our big party at the Park Plaza Hotel to celebrate 10 years of cardiovascular research at the Wales Heart Research Institute. I think our 75 guests really enjoyed themselves thanks to all our bands and some fantastic raffle prizes. Thank you to all our Sponsors!

That day also showed me one thing: Everest won't be a walk in the park, I'm not doing this for fun and enjoyment. It will be hard work. Dave Ing runs navigation courses at the Brecon Beacons National Park Visitor Centre. He is also a walking guide and organizes walks in Wales, England and Scotland tailored to individual wishes of his clients. He has also guided walks as far afield as Madeira and Mallorca.
