The hotel’s claim to fame here is the three story tall water slide. It is something every hotel should have but no mother should have to go down. Sunday, August 3, 2008. Arriving on Lopez Island – calm seas. Saturday, Mark and I went barhopping. We were tracking down a band that was visiting from Ballard! We stopped at the Islander only to find karaoke! We had a beer hoping for to listen to some good local talent, but after 10 min we bailed. We drove up the road a piece and stopped at the Galley. Sunday, August 17, 2008. All the hiking and Yellowstone books said if you do one hike it should be the 6 mile hike on Mount Washburn. Three miles up, three miles down. That’s twice around Greenlake, right? Should be no problem, right? One lone mountain goat leads a galloping herd of other mountain goats 5 seconds behind it.
