Thoughts from Hester's printmaking studio and beyond. Skip to primary content. Skip to secondary content. July 26, 2016. So…what am I up to this year (apart from the usual exhibiting and selling in galleries)? Well, I’m making lots of new work and the majority of it will be for a joint exhibition in November. The show features my printmaking and the work of two friends and colleagues, Josie Bezant. Is an artist (and owner of Masham Gallery. Is a ceramicist. Charlotte and Josie also run Crafted by Hand.

Thoughts from Hester's printmaking studio and beyond. Skip to primary content. Seeing the Wood for the Trees. February 22, 2014. I was really pleased to see a hare in the path ahead of me and was able to watch it for a while before I disturbed it and I also saw fox tracks. Today I saw a pair of roe deer bouncing across the path and into the forest, they stopped to have a look at me! Anyway, back to printmaking! I wrote all about photopolymer in a previous post (Adventures in Photopolymer).

It the final evening of my stay at Ålgården and it has been a really good three weeks. I’m just trying to work out the logistics of getting all of my prints, printing plates and associated materials into my case so that I don’t get charged excess baggage! Bengt at his preview). It has been very damp underfoot in the forests here (and at home!

Photopolymer Experiments Continued…. This is a small triptych that evolved:. This is just one example of many attempts. Thoughts from Hester's printmaking studio and beyond. Skip to primary content. Photopolymer Experiments continued…. February 27, 2014. Well, it has been such a good week here at Ålgården. It was something of a labour of love to get it finished and by the time that I did, the ink was beginning to dry but it still took the weekend for it to be totally dry enough for exposure on the plate. On Monday morning Kristina Thun. My first proof was done using black charbonnel etching ink on Hahnmule paper and it wo...

Steadily Away: Thursday
http://steadilyaway.blogspot.com/2015/07/thursday.html
Thursday, 9 July 2015. Things you notice when you haven't got any one to yack to. Thursday nights are often quite emotional. The relief of almost getting through another week. Tonight, Jo was drinking wine after mountain biking with her husband. She's secretly training to try and keep ahead of me on the hills). So I ran by myself. It was quite late before I got out. The sun was disappearing over the hill. The cows were munching and fortunately ignoring me. I ran home happy. Loch of the Lowes Wildlife Blog.

Sunday, 28 September 2014. The 3 Peaks Cyclo-Cross. So today was the annual 3 Peaks Cyclo-Cross race. Harry thinks that all hot air balloons are kites. and he hates kites. He sure told this hot air balloon what for. Rob Jebb ('Jebbie") nonchalantly trotting to the top of Ingleborough. The race approaching from Simon Fell. I'm sure they're supposed to pedal their bicycles. Cyclists are such a larey bunch - I mean that pastel blue. wtf. Looking back towards Ingleborough from Simon Fell. Harry the wonder dog.

And ideas or themes that seem to be going with me from MMT to IAP: the importance of touch; cloth and memory; notions of beauty and ugliness; multiples and repetition; loss and rebuilding. The second part of my learning log for MMT. Part 5 Tutor Feedback and Response. January 8, 2017. January 27, 2017. From Cari’s feedback on part 5 with my response:. Great evaluation – not only of practical work but also working methods, strengths/weaknesses, aesthetic and conceptual potential and role of viewer/audience. This is something I need to continue. Research has a good range of references and sources; well analysed and critiqued; clearly related to my own work and methods. Explore my understandi...

Sunday, 26 October 2014. A jolly fine way to spend a Saturday. Looking down on Thirlmere from Great How. The Lake District is one big Harry playground. Hmmm it might let the water in a bit. H and H playing on the beach. I think Harry is staring at a stick that he wants me to throw. One of many mountain streams feeding into the lake. Hester's real good at puddle pictures! The master and his loyal hound. Harry galloping up Launchy Gill. Thirlmere viewed from the track up to the Tottling Stone. All in all a...
Steadily Away: Calderdale Way Relay
http://steadilyaway.blogspot.com/2015/05/calderdale-way-relay.html
Sunday, 31 May 2015. I don't know if I've ever said, but I don't really like relays. I don't like the faffing around with cars ( it's very unenvironmental leaving cars all over the place) and I don't like the fact you don't actually see all the members of your team. It's not really sociable really. I don't like having to keep up with someone else ( yes I've had the odd bad experience of crawling behind a bounding partner). Well this year it was the Sunday night before the Saturday. As we sat in Camille's...
Steadily Away: Old ones
http://steadilyaway.blogspot.com/2015/06/old-ones.html
Sunday, 21 June 2015. After going back in time 20 years last night, having a fab time dancing all night to an Indie Resurrection Disco, I needed a nice run to clear the Stone Roses from my head and to stretch my knees out (which are obviously not as bendy as they used to be in the 90s). It was a bit drizzly but I managed to avoid most of the rain. Subscribe to: Post Comments (Atom). Bowland’s English Champions of 2016. Loch of the Lowes Wildlife Blog. Just Us and a Few Friends. Off Course Phalarope: June 2012
http://offcoursephalarope.blogspot.com/2012_06_01_archive.html
Wednesday, 27 June 2012. Cragg Vale Fell Race. What a cracking little race. I got stuck in traffic on the way and thought I was going to miss it. I thoroughly enjoyed this one. A mix of tarmac, trails, trods and tussocky bogs and a great downhill finish.and it didn't rain! I managed to get a dip in the river after and the the tea and cakes hit the spot nicely. What a shame I forgot to apply my midge cream; I have an array of red splotches that are going to drive me crazy over the next few days! The first...
Steadily Away: February 2015
http://steadilyaway.blogspot.com/2015_02_01_archive.html
Saturday, 14 February 2015. Hoping in the Dark. I don't mind January and February. It's quite nice rushing towards the light. I have been running. Not enough. It's never enough. I even bought some road shoes (ssh). I haven't done that for a long time. I've been doing some Tuesday nights at the club with a fastish (autocorrect said fascist) women's group. They do a hilly tarmac six miles which really pushes me and must be good for me ( surely? One of the hundreds of ancient, interesting stones on the moor.

Tuesday, 4 February 2014. All change in 2014. I can't keep apologizing for my lack of blogging, it was a New Year resolution that I would remedy that and keep everyone upto date with whats going on here, promise. 2013 was a brilliant year in the Garden Room. We had a fantastic spring fair, despite the cold weather and the same in November, Christmas fair, think the weather was only slightly colder than in May! We are also in the process of buying a little cottage in Norfolk. Listed, traditional, we c...
