The Minority Report: Rodney Redux
http://rueljohnson.blogspot.com/2012/01/rodney-redux.html
Busting bull, one heifer at a time. Tuesday, January 24, 2012. Last week, I promised to deal with the issue or Race and Wealth in Guyana, but due to a couple of factors, I've been unable to finish it in time. In the interim, I've decided to make to put this edition of "The Minority Report" - a version of which has been sent to the independent papers as a letter - on the current Freddie Kissoon effective firing from the University of Guyana. Rising up in consciousness | for de record
https://forderecord.wordpress.com/2014/08/16/rising-up-in-consciousness
Over himself, over his body and mind, the individual is sovereign. Rising up in consciousness. A year ago, I sat at a lecture, organised by the Cuffy 250 Committee, where a series of questions about the state of African Guyanese communities were raised. The questions mostly concerned marginalisation, unemployment and inequitable policies. They were not particularly new but recurring, as are the ongoing struggles identified in black communities. We should be having regular conversations across our country...

Henry Greene: Why rape isn’t (really) the issue | for de record
https://forderecord.wordpress.com/2012/02/09/henry-greene-why-rape-isnt-really-the-issue
Over himself, over his body and mind, the individual is sovereign. Henry Greene: Why rape isn’t (really) the issue. In the wake of the allegations of rape against Commissioner of Police, Henry Greene, I held my tongue calling simply for an impartial investigation, which I had sensed was asking for much then the Jamaicans got involved. I remember the first time I met the man; the encounter cannot be easily erased from one’s memory. There I was a smart yet somewhat naïve 18-year-old girl new on the job...

The Minority Report: Lining Up
http://rueljohnson.blogspot.com/2012/01/lining-up.html
Busting bull, one heifer at a time. Saturday, January 7, 2012. I haven’t read it but I’ve read. It, Russian author, Vladimir’s Sorokin’s highly acclaimed post-modern novel,. The novel’s setting and characters are collectively one long line of people waiting to collect something or the other in Soviet-era Russia. A blurb taken from a review of the book, published in. Sorokin creates a brilliant set piece, conveying the absurdity, the dehumanization and, above all, the inevitability of waiting in line.".

The Minority Report: The China Syndrome
http://rueljohnson.blogspot.com/2012/01/china-syndrome.html
Busting bull, one heifer at a time. Sunday, January 15, 2012. So it’s New Year’s Day 2012, and I decide to counter the effects of the Old Year’s Night drinking with the time-honoured tradition of some Chinese food at around 2 o’clock in the afternoon. About halfway into the plate of mixed fried rice, a rakish looking Indian man in his late twenties walks in holding a two year old child, and proceeds to open the door leading behind the counter and hands the child to the young Chinese woman. Guyanese of Ch...
