Corbridge is a beautiful thriving town in the heart of Hadrians Wall country. It is steeped in history sitting astride the intersection of Roman Dere Street and Stanegate and it was initially the site of many roman forts. The Saxon Church of St Andrew is in the centre of the village, the walls of which are filled with Roman stones from the nearby Roman camp of Corstopitum. In the church yard there is the Vicar's Pele dating from 14 century and built as a protection against the invaders from Scotland.
