Hey Fruitcup: Nope, haven't been there

http://www.heyfruitcup.blogspot.com/2015/05/nope-havent-been-there.html

Friday, May 15, 2015. Nope, haven't been there. File this one under "Funny things my kid says". Yesterday's Tumblebus theme was "African safari" so K was telling me about the things she learned about animals that live in Africa. Then she asked, "Have we been to that zoo before? Nope, but we got the globe out and had a little geography lesson. :). Subscribe to: Post Comments (Atom). View my complete profile. Nope, havent been there. Gardening with Kids - Part 2. Hey Fruitcup: An Introduction

http://www.heyfruitcup.blogspot.com/2015/03/an-introduction.html

Wednesday, March 25, 2015. Hello and welcome to my little blog about what raising a kid looks like in my house. I'm not an expert parent (I don't know if anyone really is! But I've been doing this parenting thing for about 4 years now and I've learned a few tricks. My name is Jessica and I have a 4 year old whom I shall call "K" for short. I also teach 7th grade science. In the rare instance that I find myself with spare time, I enjoy being crafty, working in the garden, and camping.

Saturday, May 9, 2015. Gardening with Kids - Part 2. Let's just hope for lots of rain (an no hail) on the eastern side of the state. So what did I cram into my garden this year? Green peppers and Jalapeno peppers - Also for salsa and chili making. Sweet basil - Perfect on pizza, for making large batches of pesto, and for a delicious basil-garlic salt my dear friend introduced me to last year. Carrots and rainbow carrots - Rainbow carrots are the BEST for little kids. They taste like regular orange ca...

50 And Not So Glitzy: The Dream

http://50andnotsoglitzy.blogspot.com/2015/08/the-dream.html

50 And Not So Glitzy. For folks who aren't afraid of beige. Saturday, August 8, 2015. Teachers also hop on the bus of increased activity. Posters are released from dark drawers and given wall space. Lesson plans are forged and polished. Books are counted and organized. Supplies are inventoried and distributed. Meetings portend the back to school frenzy. A sense of urgency wells up in the souls of all involved. Not yet. Do I have lesson plans ready to go? The skirt is ready. Thanks for stopping by my blog...

50 And Not So Glitzy. For folks who aren't afraid of beige. Saturday, May 30, 2015. I am not a tree hugger in the political sense of the word but anyone who lives in the upper midwest knows how precious trees are in this area. We live in a grassland biome and each tree is a symbol of tenacious resilience. Trees become longsuffering friends and we respect their contributions to our environmental relationships. http://50andnotsoglitzy.blogspot.com/2014_12_01_archive.html

50 And Not So Glitzy. For folks who aren't afraid of beige. Saturday, December 27, 2014. Before I was pulled into the vortex of complete enthrallment, I asked the question I always ask when I am presented with a possible purchase, "How much does it cost? Pause Rustling of the magazine page. "I think you can get it for around $60.00.". Well, don't you want something that really works? You can't put a price on that.". Not impressed, my husband replied, "Good grief. Why not get it right every time? I must c...

http://50andnotsoglitzy.blogspot.com/2015/07/mason.html

50 And Not So Glitzy. For folks who aren't afraid of beige. Saturday, July 11, 2015. My 87-year-old mother and I recently attended a graduation open house for my niece. As we enjoyed our ice cream sundaes, we discussed how quickly the grandchildren were growing up and how exciting it is when each one leaves the nest and begins a new future. My mother has twenty grandchildren with high school graduations under their belts, three to go. I suppose this is the part where I should call upon my readers to shar...

50 And Not So Glitzy. For folks who aren't afraid of beige. Saturday, June 27, 2015. Despite the challenges of making a monumental move, my mother maintained a positive attitude throughout the process. She kept saying there were only three temporal things she needed to make her happy. Her easy chair, a stack of crossword puzzle books and a bird feeder to watch from her window. Gratefully, we were able to make that happen. Life should always be so simple. June 28, 2015 at 8:16 PM. June 29, 2015 at 6:49 AM.

50 And Not So Glitzy. For folks who aren't afraid of beige. Saturday, November 29, 2014. My grandmother made delicious pies and I don't remember more than a crumb being left on any plate she served us. Her meringues were always perfectly coiffed. The fruit pies were sweetened just right. And the streusel toppings had the perfect amount of crunch. But the best part of all was the crust. Flaky, tender and flavorful. Her secret? Saturday, November 15, 2014. Every day I watch a few portly squirrels munch the...

50 And Not So Glitzy. For folks who aren't afraid of beige. Saturday, February 21, 2015. 2) Pop-up ads- One does become numb to the barrage of ads that troll around on our computer screens on a daily basis but there are occasions when it is difficult to ignore the flashing, spinning, cannot-find-the-close-button ads. In addition, there are the belly fat pictures, miracle cures from strange tropical fruits and, in my case, old age stuff. Creepy. And not tempting. Saturday, February 7, 2015. And, sure enou...

50 And Not So Glitzy. For folks who aren't afraid of beige. Saturday, September 20, 2014. Basil vs. Sage. Our fair city is also in the midst of differing responses to seasons. For the past several years our school board has elected to begin school during peak summer days, two weeks before Labor Day. Many reasons have been given as to the validity of such a schedule, the primary one being that high school students will fare better in their semester tests if they finish them before Christmas break. There a...

http://50andnotsoglitzy.blogspot.com/2015/05/rumbles.html

50 And Not So Glitzy. For folks who aren't afraid of beige. Saturday, May 16, 2015. Coastal areas have their hurricanes. Fault lines have their earthquakes. Tropical lands have their monsoons. And the prairies have their thunderstorms. Big, roiling, pack-a-punch storms that threaten man and beast. Perhaps the intensity of our storms is magnified by the fact that we have few obstructions as we view a storm's development and course of action. We are entering storm season in the upper Midwest. The steam...

hey, from mississippi

Hey, from mississippi. Saturday, August 1, 2015. I dip, you dip, we dip. This week I had my coworkers over for some dips and drinks. School is starting soon, and it was time for a get together. I had plans for having a big jar of zinnias as my centerpiece, but once I got to my flowers they were too pretty to cut too many. I'm striving, probably in vain, to get Yard of the Month. So let's dip, baby dip. And caution, if you don't like mayonnaise, go look somewhere else for a dip idea. 1/2 cup of mayo.

You can buy a $2.50 ticket and make your guess down to the minute. Last year's Jackpot was $330,330. Nenana is just down the road from Fairbanks. I will be excitedly watching and...
