Heysham to M6 Link. Bay Gateway opens to traffic. The Bay Gateway has opened to traffic this afternoon (Monday 31 October 2016), linking the Heysham peninsula to the M6 at junction 34. Bay Gateway to open to traffic. The Bay Gateway is scheduled to open to traffic on Monday 31 October. HGV ban proposed for urban areas of Lancaster. Lancashire County Council has announced proposals to ban heavy goods vehicles (HGVs) over 7.5 tonnes from parts of Lancaster district. News release issued by Highways England.

Heysham to M6 Link. The project also involves a fully remodelled junction 34, with new slip roads, a new bridge over the River Lune and a park and ride site with over 650 spaces. The new road provides better access for residents, businesses and tourists to the area. The new road begins at the junction of the A683/A589 Morecambe Road by Lancaster and Morecambe College. This was previously a roundabout and is now a signalised crossroads. Find out about the planning and consultation process.

Drivers using the M6 in Lancaster are being advised of upto five overnight closures as part of ongoing works for the Heysham to M6 Link Road. Starting Monday 20 July the motorway will close at 10pm and re-open by 5am the following morning.
