Reflections on my journey of life. Wednesday, June 11, 2014. Defining a New Normal. There are two kinds of new normal—the good and the bad. Big surprise, right? When defining new normal is good, we are on our way to college, as so many will be in just a few months. Good new normal might be our choice and we are finding our place in a new job; we are making new friends and discovering new talents. Our new normal might be adjusting to our new home or better yet, our first home. Define the new normal? When ...

Reflections: July 2011

Reflections on my journey of life. Tuesday, July 5, 2011. The month of June arrived and the first half of the month was focused on the wedding of our dear daughter. Some time was spent organizing our garage to make temporary room for wedding gifts, but my objective of disposing of things and learning to live with less was set aside to simply clean and make room. Or does that continue to just be a bad dream of nervousness about the upcoming school year? Two vintage bowling shirts—gone! Five pair various s...

Reflections on my journey of life. Saturday, May 17, 2014. Many people's view of God is about his power. He created all things, he oversees and controls all things. God has. Reflections on my journey of life. Sunday, June 12, 2011. Today, in an effort to stay sane before the wedding, I cleaned kitchen cupboards. They are mostly done and I did a lot of consolidating. I was hoping to dispose of more, but I am satisfied with the cleanliness of the cupboards today. After the wedding, I plan to get serious about disposing of more stuff. Magic Ready Mop—although ready, not so magic and a handle that is far too short. Various bedding items like random pillow cases and such.

Reflections on my journey of life. Monday, January 30, 2012. Pantry Challenge Week #3 and 4. Week three and four of the pantry challenge were pretty routine. My grocery bills for those two weeks were $43.88 and $32.08 respectively, and my total food cost for the month of January (plus the week after Christmas) was $145.45. Now, for us, that was a savings of $254.55 to $354.55; an inspiring savings. Sunday, January 15, 2012. Pantry Challenge Week #2. Week Two's greatest success was that I only spent $38 a...

Reflections on my journey of life. Saturday, April 23, 2011. Easter should be a celebration bigger than Christmas. It's Resurrection Day! If Jesus had not resurrected, he would not have overcome death, and we would still be dead in our sins. Jesus has made us white as snow so that we may spend eternity with God. That is reason for celebration! Sunday, April 17, 2011. Week 16 Part II. Fudge Nut Brownie Cookie. I used my smallest cookie scoop to keep the cookies uniform. Although the dough is quite sti...

Reflections on my journey of life. Friday, July 4, 2014. Which brings to mind the question, "Why? Or better yet "How? How do you know where to stop mowing? How do you keep your kids from playing in their yard? How do you keep your dog from wandering away? How can anything be private? How do you keep your neighbor's nose out of your business? Reflections on my journey of life. Monday, May 26, 2014. Is your Trust—a noun or a verb? Trust (n). reliance on the integrity, strength, ability, surety, etc., of a person or thing; a person on whom or thing on which one relies. As Christians, we grab hold of God and in him we find our trust. In that case, it is a noun. It is a thing and it is permanent. If this is true, then why does Satan sway us? Trust (v). to rely upon or place confidence in someone or something. Do we think God wavers? To go through...
