From Adelaide to Nepal...: The fun in fundraising
http://adelaidenepal.blogspot.com/2010/07/fun-in-fundraising.html
From Adelaide to Nepal. Stories of the Global Village volunteer experience with Habitat for Humanity. Friday, July 23, 2010. The fun in fundraising. When I first went to an information night about Habitat in 2007, and Natalie spoke about the $900 donation each Global Village volunteer is required to make, I felt paralysed with fear. You mean I need to ask my friends for money? Eek If I wanted to do that, I would have set up some kind of party plan consultancy. People seem to love to eat curry for a cause!

From Adelaide to Nepal. Stories of the Global Village volunteer experience with Habitat for Humanity. Friday, August 13, 2010. The team gets to decide. And that is especially rewarding. Both the 2008 and 2009 teams donated the extra money into a special fund called Project Kangaroo Shelter. Amrit Bk, who works for Habitat in Nepal wrote this about the project last year:. Here's a description from Natalie Fuller, the 2008 and 2009 team leader, of what was done with the extra money left by the 2008 team:.

Thanks to Michelle Bonnici for sharing this reflection from last year's build. 18 Aussies arrived in a village, where very few, if any, of the villages had ever met a western person! What a great TV screen we made. Rumour around the village was that there was no way we would be able to do the work set out for us in the 6 work days planned.
