Lines in pleasant places. O Lord, You are the portion of my inheritance and my cup; You maintain my lot. The lines have fallen to me in pleasant places; yes, I have a good inheritance. Psalm 16:5,6. Wednesday, May 31, 2006. Last weekend we had guests from Virginia. Before they came I took a hard and critical look at the house and decided to get in high gear and put things where they belonged - specifically, the books that have been languishing in the downstairs hallway since we moved here in December.

Saturday, December 30, 2006. I have several of Joan's paintings framed and on the walls of of our family room. I have an early painting of Uncle Gus's on our living room wall:. I like it because it's a place. I think it was an exercise in perspective, but it works for me anyway. Posted by Laura at 7:54 PM.

Lines in pleasant places. O Lord, You are the portion of my inheritance and my cup; You maintain my lot. The lines have fallen to me in pleasant places; yes, I have a good inheritance. Psalm 16:5,6. Monday, July 24, 2006. This is the last week in July. I've had a great spring and summer, and summer's not over yet! But it will end too soon for the children and for me. So I'm turning off the computer, unplugging the phone and the TV, and boxing up my summer reading (except for. Posted by Laura at 1:12 PM.

Grace Notes: October 2008
http://becky-gracenotes.blogspot.com/2008_10_01_archive.html
Monday, October 27, 2008. Giving Thanks.Giving Back. Today I had a rare privilege. I was able to give back a little of the encouragement given to me as a child of eight. How well I recall standing in my little choir, softly singing along with my friends and wishing with all my heart I could sing like my teacher, Mrs. Matherly. Her eyes sparkled and her voice rang out with enthusiasm and joy. I wanted to be. Her; but I was shy and embarrassed. After class, she called me aside. Amazing grace, how sweet the...

Grace Notes: New beginnings, sweet and bittersweet memories...
http://becky-gracenotes.blogspot.com/2012/02/new-beginnings-sweet-and-bittersweet.html
Wednesday, February 1, 2012. New beginnings, sweet and bittersweet memories. 65279;. I toss upon the waves, but Thou dost steer,. Thou Who standest at the helm of all that Thou hast made." - Augustine. Today is January 31st, at least for a few more hours here in Canton, GA. It's the last day of the first month of a shiny new year. How many memories are tucked away from 2011! Almost too overwhelming to begin listing them, so I'll just throw out a random scatter of photos from 2011. More hats in 2012!

Grace Notes: March 2009

Friday, March 27, 2009. God's Principle of Sowing and Reaping Still Intact. Be not deceived, God is not mocked;. For whatever a man sows,. That he shall also reap. In early March, I impatiently await the appearance of the first brave daffodil that will push it's stubborn way up through the frozen dirt in my front yard and proclaim, "Christ is risen from the dead! At least, that's how I look at daffodils and all similar ugly brown bulbs I poke into unlikely beds of rocky ground in the fall. As I looked at...

Landscape Plotted and Pieced: A Mongoloid Child Handling Shells on the Beach

Landscape Plotted and Pieced. To make our lives an art. Monday, April 19, 2010. A Mongoloid Child Handling Shells on the Beach. Richard Snyder (1925 - 1986). She turns them over in her slow hands,. As did the sea sending them to her;. Broken bits from the mazarine maze,. They are the calmest things on this sand. The unbroken children splash and shout,. Rough as surf, gay as their nesting towels. But she plays soberly with the sea's. Small change and hums back to it its slow vowels. Go quickly and tell.

Landscape Plotted and Pieced. To make our lives an art. Monday, April 13, 2015. Percy Bysshe Shelley (1792-1822). I bring fresh showers for the thirsting flowers,. From the seas and the streams;. I bear light shade for the leaves when laid. In their noonday dreams. From my wings are shaken the dews that waken. The sweet buds every one,. When rocked to rest on their mother’s breast,. As she dances about the sun. I wield the flail of the lashing hail,. And whiten the green plains under;. John Ciardi (1916-...

Landscape Plotted and Pieced: Of the making of books there is no end . . .
http://badgermum.blogspot.com/2015/07/of-making-of-books-there-is-no-end.html
Landscape Plotted and Pieced. To make our lives an art. Wednesday, July 8, 2015. Of the making of books there is no end . . . And apparently that’s true of the acquiring of books as well. Recently I read Marie Kondo’s book, The Life-Changing Magic of Tidying Up. And I found it was just what I needed to give direction to my heretofore dilatory efforts at decluttering. Finished bookcases, this iteration, anyway. :-p. To date I’ve gotten rid of nearly five hundred (500! Lark @ The Bookwyrm's Hoard. In all h...
