When selecting a can of vegetables, fruit or stew-like contents, while holding the can in your hand and carefully rotating it back and forth, you can tell just HOW MUCH volume is made up of actual solids versus liquid (i.e buying a can of canned whole tomatoes in their juices). The less slippage back and forth, the higher the solid food-content versus liquid and a better bargain for the price! 2010 The Romantic Table. 2010 The Romantic Table. Anna had made parmesan toasties for dinner and worried, “Did I turn the oven off? Does it seem smoky in here to you? 8221; “Maybe a little but I think it’s my glasses”, Christie replied. Anna then went upstairs to check her eyes, to see if her eyes were cloudy. Or was it the stove that caused the extra smoke? 8221; Christie said, “Baby it’s ...Whew She ...

After a minor detour, which led us very close to the wrong city, we corrected our route and got ourselves to Stage 8, the Final Stage, in Thousand Oaks, with plenty of time to spare. We parked our car close to the team buses and bumped right into Patrick Dempsey outside of the BMC team bus (this is George’s team bus! He is handsome and looks better in person than on TV. See for yourself – photo posted! Still in awe, we walked over to Saxo Bank’...

Slept in.aaahhhh.we were a little worried the Roosters would cock-a-doodle-doodle us up in the morning but thankfully they got the memo! Anna got ready early and headed into the main dining area to chat it up with Kris the Innkeeper who was a wealth of information for the area. During our breakfast chatter we discover Jen was 1) 100% Dutch 2) baker-photographer and 3) they live in Visalia! Who could’ve guessed! Monday, October 18, 2010. Colonia del Sacramento in Uruguay. Once in Colonia, we were stunned by all the pounding we heard and saw. Passports? Stamp, stamp, stamp! Stamp, stamp, stamp! Stamp, stamp, stamp! These Uruguayans are very fond of stamps and inkpads. Once approved for entry, we caught a Taxi to Casa de los Limoneros (House of Lemons) for our one night stay. We arrived and were immediately charmed beyond belief that we landed in our own fantasy island! It was perfect and beautiful! 15 degrees C: ...

It’s a good thing we were not in the Amazing Race and our task was to sing the famous song from Evita’s balcony. We would have fallen into last place for sure. We decided the best way to find it was to tour all of the buildings in the Plaza. One of these will surely mention this significant event and highlight the famous balcony. Then we ventured back to the only open restaurant we saw. Sat down, waitied for 20...

Just the last bit anyway. The only way to get to Caminito in the La Boca barrio is by taxi. The only recommended (and safest) way. La Boca is very sketchy and not a place for Traveling Gals to get lost. More about our evacuation plan later. We arrived in the pedestrian only alleys of Caminito and thought, “Wow, this placed is a tourist mecca”. We had changed our minds.

Monday, October 11, 2010. Discovering Buenos Aires Day 2. We spent our second day in Buenos Aires exploring the San Telmo area, in search of the famous Sunday market. This involved taking the Subte for the first time. But, we had to find an open station first which proved challenging. We went to the first station, “cerrado”. We went to the second station, “cerrado”, Hmmm. What on earth did we miss? We sat in the park and crammed through our guidebooks. Nothing. Is it a holiday? We watched a couple do the...

Anna planned our journey into Recoleta the night before, remembering the market in this area, while relaxing with a glass of Uruguayan white wine. Her hard work paid off. We spent our first couple of hours in Recoleta wandering through the stalls of hand crafted art and bought all kinds of wonderful things:. Paintings, handbags, woven shawl, barrettes, two lovely ceramic plates and a Che magnet. We made our selections and moved on. The more...
