For 2011 my new year's resolution was to do whatever it took to heal my back, including taking time off from running, going to physical therapy, change how I exercise- anything! I wrote a blog with the gruesome picture. Showing the herniated and bulging discs at the bottom of my spine, and with this info, the good doctor prescribed a cortisone shot. Friday, February 18, 2011. I am blogging this morning from my treadmill. Yes, I am happy and relieved to report that the cortisone shot did what it was supposed to and reduced all the inflammation in my back muscles, and within three days reducing my pain to a virtual non-existence! That stuff is like liquid magic! I am a normal person again! That said, I am still super cautious about proper form and posture during my daily routines and workouts. I have no desire to get stuck back on the floor again!

Yup, I know there is one full day left of 2009, but tomorrow is not a running day for me, and I didn't plan early on to have an exact number of miles to run before the clocked stopped ticking for 2009 and started for 2010. (Wow. 2010. That sounds futuristic, eh? Can you believe that it's here? So, here are my running and walking stats nice and simple for the year of 2009:. Running: 552.2 miles. Grand total: 618.2 miles. I finished my masters degree!

Wednesday, June 29, 2011. Lord Sunday, book 7 of the Keys to the Kingdom series. My rating: 5 of 5 stars. This series was fantastic! Phillip Pullman has his controversial series on God and the angels, and Garth Nix brushes through creation in this one. I loved the depth of character development- watching Arthur's inner strength as he grew as a person, and was surprised at his part of ending. This is definitely a series I'll reread.
