Thursday, October 3, 2013. Truth or Consequences. This town is just off Interstate 25, almost exactly half-way between Las Cruces and Socorro. It would probably be by-passed if not for Elephant Butte and its own hot springs. Honestly, I'm not sure if most of the restaurants and its few shops were closed because of the town's flooding, or that the town is permanently sleepy. Stop in again for a weekend. With all that said, do go to Tor C to enjoy a fabulous soak. There are several spas to choose from,...

Tuesday, November 4, 2014. The race: A fast-moving tidal current caused by a narrow or shallow channel. The area earned its name because of the strong cross currents that occur and prevail. Race Point is known for its fierce undertow and strong riptides. It is also known for its spectacular sand dunes, rugged beach, and deep blue water. Visiting in mid-October has its advantages. I enjoyed the absence of crowds, warm weather, cool breezes, and an opportunity to see life on the shore, and in the sea.

Aptly named for the terra cotta hoodoos, cliffs, ridges and other rock formations, the Red Rock Ride (RRR) is a six-day trail ride that traverses large swaths of southern Utah and Northern Arizona. On the trail, we meandered through the canyons of Zion, Bryce, Paria and Casto. We moved through parts of the Dixie National Forest and ended the trek at the Grand Canyon by entering at its north rim. This trip is clearly the highlight of my riding life.
