Adventures in food . and other culinary pursuits. Tuesday, September 15, 2009. Why buy the coconut milk when you can get the Thai food delivered? I took the plunge. I tried making Thai food. It was OK. It was a fairly hefty amount of work with not as much pay-off as I would've liked, but despite the lackluster results, I'm still glad I gave it a go. I knew I had 2 lbs. of frozen shrimp at home, so I visited Tastespotting. From the blog *crispy waffle*. Oh and I need to buy a wok. Photo from sweet fine day.

This meal - which I am pleased to say I made up as I went - is hearty, delicious, inexpensive, convenient, and great for leftovers. Beans and Rice with Shrimp, Andouille Sausage, and Green Bell Pepper. 1 cup Carolina rice (though you can use whatever rice you like). 1 TBS olive oil. 1 yellow onion, minced. 4-6 stalks celery, minced (leaves included). 2-3 cloves garlic, minced.
