Skip to main content. The Published Musings of Chris O'Neill. Compiling hi-score saving MAME on Ubuntu. 6 November 2012 - 12:08am. I'll admit it - this is more of a "dig this out in five years when I do it again" post. I'm rolling a copy of MAME to install on my Ubuntu HTPC, to compliment the emulator cabinet I keep on my back deck. If you don't do these things for a living, it is never straightforward. That is bigger, and better for you. Which is obviously what we want. Over at arcadecontrols.com. File ...

My quest to build a replica donkey kong arcade machine. Friday, March 30, 2012. I did not enjoy installing the software. But as J.Avery said, "You do it once, and you never think about it again.". You need three pieces of software: Mame, MaLa, and Roms. Are individual zip files with all of the code to the original arcade games. You need one rom for each game you want to play. Is the emulator that plays the roms. Seemed to have figured out. People have made special diff files. I set up Mala to boot direct...

My quest to build a replica donkey kong arcade machine. Saturday, March 31, 2012. I installed the computer into the back of the cabinet. I removed as much of the computer case as I could so that the computer doesn't overheat inside the arcade cabinet. I also bought two extra fans for the computer from ebay. They're really cheap and really easy to install. I removed all unnecessary hardware from the computer to make it boot faster and run cooler. I even found a modem card in there. I wired a power button ...

MAME Light Gun Calibrate/Calibration. At December 03, 2016 19:25. Here's a suggestion for getting stubborn MAME games to work with a Light Gun. If you don't have two guns, use your mouse as the player 2 (P2) gun. Go into the calibration controls (hit TAB) and set the X and Y axis for the first gun i.e. TopGun. Then set the X and Y axis for the second gun i.e. mouse (move the mouse left to right, and down to up to simulate the x and y movements). Hope this helps.it worked for me. Hit the soft reset(F3).

Site now moved to www.baronvonallan.com. Sunday, August 30, 2009. Can you splice a DVI-D single channel cable? YES YOU CAN. WHEE. Yep, that mishapen lump is the splice in the DVI cable I did with just twisting wires and duct tape, and yes, that's the actual cable the monitor is running of. Ill call her Frankensplice. Under VGA, the screen has to detect where and how to fit the screen, resulting in it flickering on and off, changing in size and sliding around to fit. This was annoying on my test runs ...
