In the early days of the Atari 2600 and even the NES, many games practically were their own genre, sometimes with names to match (Adventure, anyone? So how does Metal Gear Solid go about making us reconsider our approach to action games? Metal Gear Solid provided this showy magnetism, as well as a story that, although flawed, is actually worth giving a damn about.
