Rob and beth go for a walk. 8230;and Cooper too! Day 117-118: mile 2206-2262. August 29, 2016. August 29, 2016. Today was exciting as soon as we woke up – our end destination was to be one of our favorite places, Horsehoe Meadows. As we neared Road 23, we lamented that though Coppetone the Trail Magician mentioned he liked to stop at Road 23, we were pretty sure we would not see him again. Look who just pulled up! We shared one last (? Our not-so-secret off-the-PCT camping spot was busy (with PCTA trail ...

But we both soaked it all in at the top. Except for the last climb – oh man, I did not remember that one being so relentless! Sep 11: 2612 – 2639. Of snow sliding off. Oh boy, it snowed! Oh boy, it picked up again before we even sat up to discuss the day. That quickly turned into coffee in bed. It wasn’t a ton of...

Rob and beth go for a walk. 8230;and Cooper too! September 4, 2016. September 4, 2016. We are all well, Cooper is laying down the miles and now that the weather has cooled, is more excited than either of us to start back up after every break. The solar charger has proved to be a mild disappointment in Washington, and our days have been a bit longer (and slower) than in recent weeks. Cell service has been intermittent and weak. Wah, Wah – excuses, excuses, right? Day 119: mile 2262-2286. Email (Address ne...

Rob and beth go for a walk. 8230;and Cooper too! September 13, 2016. September 13, 2016. Sep 12: to the border and beyond. Mom showed up early, we drove to Dan and Jill’s to get our car, then continued south – to find a clean house, a fridge full of treats, fresh sheets, indoor plumbing, and damn…. just plain ol’ home. I thought I was too cool to be overwhelmed by the return, but apparently I am not. We texted the guy from Tehachapi with the dead cow to let him know we made it. Fast facts and stats below,.

We stayed so long that it seemed like it was lunch time – and like a trail magician, Jill had a spread of treats laid out on the counter. B&B Farm Stay business in their future? Soon it was time to pile into the car and head back up to the pass. We arrived at the pass to find: Coppertone! Sep 4: mile 2466 – 2491. We stopped for lunch at Pear Lake, where I had a vivid ...

Rob and beth go for a walk. 8230;and Cooper too! Day 130-133: mile 2513-2586. September 13, 2016. Catching up: Post 4/4. Sep 6: 2513 -2538. We both had memories of the trail past Mica Lake being a big brushy mess. I don’t think either of us was super excited about the miles ahead. But it wasn’t nearly as bad as we remembered! The rest of the day’s hike was neither riveting nor thrilling – except for two things:. We camped just across the Suiattle, bunking next to our BC buddies, B-Line and Claw Hammer.

It’s hard to follow a day like Goat Rocks day, but August 27th tried. Started off the morning with a little climb, then a cross over a saddle, and swooooosh, down and around one of my favorite bowls. The clouds this morning were stunning. Could’ve watched them all day. We passed the afternoon reminiscing about the time we hiked the opposite direct...

Rob and beth go for a walk. 8230;and Cooper too! Day 119: mile 2262-2286. August 31, 2016. August 31, 2016. Today was the day! The day we got to cross through our favoritest of spots, The Goat Rocks. A brief summary as I will let the pictures do most of the talking:. Cooper’s Second Mommy! The four of us climbed up to Old Snowy, then down and across The Goat Rocks Ridge. We saw goats! Then we said our goodbyes (Leprechaun was returning the way she came), and frolicked through meadows and forests until it...

Thru-hiking the Pacific Crest Trail – Jeff "Blazer" Smith
Thru-hiking the Pacific Crest Trail. Day 138 – Mission Accomplished! September 13, 2016. By Jeff Blazer Smith. Miles hiked today – 14.0. Soon after we started hiking there was a very light snow coming down. It was kind of nice to be on trail for the beginning of a new season. We stayed at the monument for 45 minutes. We each wrote something in the register that was there in a heavy plastic bag. We each felt a lot of satisfaction in completing the trail. You won’t regret it. Day 137 – One More Day! I got ...

Out here to know the creator and to see his creation. Monday, March 23, 2015. Schizo-nation Self-serving do-gooders: Is it so much confusing. Your article was quite pessimistic and at many places incorrect too. It seems like there is nothing good about all this. In fact I am disappointed with magazine as well. Why you want to put everything into such watertight compartments? Who defines these role? And how far you want people to go back to their " original places". Non empirical knowledge (tradition) may...
Hikers Network – Mountain Search & Rescue
Search & Rescue. Search & Rescue. March 16, 2018. March 16, 2018. Taking safety to another level. Growing up in Bishop Lavis I’m attuned to Safety and Security, many a time finding myself chasing down perpetrators of crime and reclaiming what was rightly mine at the time. From bird baths, to bicycles, to car jacks, to my Dad’s roses (10 of them, ripped from the ground overnight), I’ve seen and experienced quite a few adrenalin-fuelled events. What is the time? The training is highly recommended for anyon...
