Columbia Mountain ⋆ Hiking for LivingHiking for Living
http://www.hikingforliving.com/columbia-mountain
The blog, vast amounts of fun and useful information. Posted by hikingforliving@gmail.com. Columbia Mountain is a fantastic trail because it’s so close by! It’s right off of the highway too so it’s very easy to get to. Since it goes pretty high it’s not very easy to hike in the winter, early spring or late fall though thanks to all the snow… that’s why we didn’t quite make it to the top. It’s still worth it. Another water crossing, you may get a bit wet at this one! We like you too :). Nothing like good ...

Lupine Lake – Marion. Posted by hikingforliving@gmail.com. This hike gives you instant gratification, you’ve barely started down the trail before you get a stunning view. There’s a sheer rock side you’re standing in above a creek and a little waterfall, you’re looking at the treetops below with a nice creek. I look forward to revisiting this area come spring, I have a feeling that it will be quite the sight when the water is high. Short and sweet post today. The "American Dream" is dead. We are a cou...

Eagle Pass – Flathead Indian Reservation. Posted by hikingforliving@gmail.com. I’m excited to tell you about the trip! Finding the trail head: our first dilemma. Immediately I knew there was a problem, a focus problem. Shoot! The suns coming up and I have a lens that won’t focus… hm. Emergency lens repair, with no suitable tools, if you’re a photographer you’re probably thinking ‘that’s a terrible idea’. Well it is. Did I really do that? The trip: worth the little bumps. This fungi had water droplets per...

The blog, vast amounts of fun and useful information. Lupine Lake – Marion. Posted by hikingforliving@gmail.com. Now, if that photo doesn’t make you want to BE THERE, you may need to find another blog to read ;). As a whole the trail is pretty mellow. There’s no steep terrain after the first bit and the couple of miles into the lake are sheltered from the wind. I was able knock this trail out in about 2 hours total, I kept up a good pace. Short and sweet post today. Please select the social network you w...

Lake McDonald Lodge (almost) to Avalanche Trailhead – GNP. Posted by hikingforliving@gmail.com. In case you forgot… or don’t know who Ron is. Anyhow, back to the hike! As we all know that can be quite tiresome! Making our way in we took the trail that goes back by the horse stables and just followed that, eventually we ended up off trailing very briefly when we saw the road and it looked much easier to walk on! The always stunning mountains that never quit also made an appearance.

Meet the Travel Nerds. Reykjavik, Iceland: Hiking up Mount Esja. The view from halfway up Mount Esja. Mr Nerd and I are huge hiking advocates. We spend a lot of travel time hiking up mountains and into forests, along icy paths, through mud, streams, and poison ivy… You name it! If you’re curious about some of our previous hiking adventures, check out our posts on why you should go hiking. And that time Mr. Nerd proposed while hiking near a nuclear power plant. Immediately, our minds were made. We dre...

A fourth-stage cancer patient's attempt to hike Mt. Whitney in July 2008.and to see cancer cured! Saturday, October 25, 2014. So, in case you hadn't noticed, HikingForHope is anonymous. In the beginning, you could never see HfH's face. She was careful in her editing, and if you never noticed, go back and look. The biggest reason for this is private, but there was a particular point in time when it changed. The first time I noticed I jummped up and down. “Honey! I see your face! Monday, September 8, 2014.
