https://hikingthegta.com/category/scarborough-bluffs

Places to hike and things to see in and around the Greater Toronto Area. Category Archives: Scarborough Bluffs. Beachcombers – Scarborough Bluffs. Saturday, January 7, 2017. The beach along the Scarborough Bluffs is an ever changing environment. It is eroded by wind, rain and waves. Objects are washed ashore, washed down the bluffs or dumped here. As such it is a great place to look for treasures, each of which has a story to tell or a little bit of history to reveal. As we walked along the beach we met ...

Highland Creek | Hiking the GTA

https://hikingthegta.com/2016/09/08/highland-creek

Places to hike and things to see in and around the Greater Toronto Area. Saturday August 27, 2016. Erosion is a serious problem because of the rapid flooding that can occur when it rains hard. The layers of sand have been washed out from under the trail causing the path to be rerouted a little farther away from the river bank. There are plenty of places along Highland Creek that the city seems very far away. Walking down the beach toward the west will bring you to East Point Park. September 8, 2016.

East Point Park | Hiking the GTA

https://hikingthegta.com/2016/06/29/east-point-park

Places to hike and things to see in and around the Greater Toronto Area. Sunday June 19, 2016. East Point Park is sandwiched between a water and a sewage treatment plant. The park has an upper meadow, wetlands, a segment of the Scarborough Bluffs and a lengthy beach. There is a parking lot at the end of Beechgrove Drive where there is free parking. This collapsing tower of sand is the same one seen from the top of the bluffs in the cover photo. In several places there are large boulders in the sand part ...

Riviere du Loup | Ducks and Birds

A flock of geese leave their lake and take wing, turning to poems in the sky. Dr. SunWolf. August 12, 2015. Hello Riviere du Loup and the south shore of the St. Lawrence and Great Blue Herons! At low tide there were dozens of herons wading in the mouth of Riviere du Loup near the ferry landing. This entry was posted in Uncategorized. And tagged Bald Eagle. Along the North Shore. Along the North Shore | Ducks and Birds

https://ducksandbirds.wordpress.com/2015/08/12/along-the-north-shore

A flock of geese leave their lake and take wing, turning to poems in the sky. Dr. SunWolf. Along the North Shore. August 12, 2015. From Cap Torment we headed on up the north shore of the mighty river as far as the Saguenay at Tadoussac. We saw a fair number of Blue-winged Teals as well as Golden-eyes and Cormorants in the river in addition to Canada Geese and Mallards. And along the shore we spotted Bank Swallows flying in and out of the holes in the clay-coloured cliffs. And tagged Bank Swallows. Rambli...

The other path | The Rough Draft

https://sabot03196.wordpress.com/2015/08/11/the-other-path

If you can't go through it. Go around it. August 11, 2015. The turn off to Side Road 15 by Terra Cotta. Blink and you will miss it. This Sunday myself and a few other riders hit some gravel and no Winter maintenance roads up around the Creemore and Terra Cotta area. It turned out to be a fun and also humbling day. The other riders were Randy on his newer model DL-650, Connie on a very nice Husqvarna, Derek on his 250 Yamaha and Mark on the blue version of my 04 DL-650. I was a bit concerned as it looked ...

Confidence | The Rough Draft

If you can't go through it. Go around it. August 3, 2015. I get tired of people telling me all the things my bike (a 650 V-Strom) can’t do. How it’s too heavy, not a real off road bike, blah, blah, blah. Are there things my bike can’t do? For instance, this. If I’m doing this with my bike, my ride has gone seriously wrong. I sure would but I simply don’t have the room or the money to keep a two bike stable. Yes there are but I wouldn’t take a BMW R1200GS down them either. If I break something o...Well pu...

A flock of geese leave their lake and take wing, turning to poems in the sky. Dr. SunWolf. Birds on the Move. August 12, 2015. August always seems to come suddenly! There you are, enjoying the summer when suddenly you notice that the days are getting a little shorter and birds are on the move again. Returning to Wildwood we are still seeing Herons and Kingbirds, Swallows and Kingfishers. But nearby at Harrington, the shorebirds have been arriving along with Great Egrets. And tagged Great Blue Heron.

The Road Home | Ducks and Birds

https://ducksandbirds.wordpress.com/2015/08/12/the-road-home

A flock of geese leave their lake and take wing, turning to poems in the sky. Dr. SunWolf. August 12, 2015. I’m always amazed to see Great Blue Herons in trees even though I know they nest in trees, they just look a bit awkward to me! We did see a large nesting area of Herons just off the 401 heading to the Quebec border, but of course it wasn’t an ideal place to just stop and take a better look, which probably made it an ideal spot for them. My Books | The Rough Draft

https://sabot03196.wordpress.com/my-books

If you can't go through it. Go around it. I’ve been a screenwriter for over twenty years and screenwriting has the added benefit of slowly but surely destroying your soul. Thanks to the surge in self publishing on the Amazon Kindle and a variety of other ebook platforms, I’ve left the wacky world of screenwriting for the independent author arena. My latest book Reliance. My thriller Devil’s Gambit. Page on this site and there’s a direct link for the print version there. Reviews for Devil’s Gambit. I hope...

Hiking the Hills

Follow Scott and Hilary's adventures hiking in the hills of West Virginia. It was such a gorgeous day in the hills yesterday that we just had to get outside. Unfortunately, I was a bit too lazy to put the energy into researching a long hike or getting my butt out on a trail to do 5 miles. So, we decided to head up to Tucker County to visit Olson Tower and stop by Hellbender Burritos for lunch. Not many people know about Olson, so we were shocked when we got to Olson, and there were people there! So many ...

hiking the hudson valley for fatasses | where we break all the rules, by talking about everything

Hiking the hudson valley for fatasses. Where we break all the rules, by talking about everything. October 18, 2013. I don’t even know where I was! So here’s where I am. And don’t congratulate me. More disclosure: shortly after starting this blog, I started smoking again. So, because of that, and yes watching what I eat and doing some exercise, I lost weight. But no cause for applause when cigarettes are brought into the equation. And things got derailed. So, what’s the point of this blog? I didn’t ...
