Pin Fiddle Quilts: March 2015
http://pinfiddlequilts.blogspot.com/2015_03_01_archive.html
Sunday, 22 March 2015. Modern Irish Bee March Block. I finally got my Bee blocks completed today. Http:/ mansewing.com/wp-content/uploads/2015/03/burstblock.pdf. Or go to the Modern Irish Bee blog for a link to the You Tube tutorial. An American man sewing as only an American man could sew. This block takes about 10 minutes to do, so very fast, but you need to concentrate and be quite methodical. Not much else in the way of sewing around here at the mo. Look at my beautiful whippet. So I used bleach!

Pin Fiddle Quilts: March 2014
http://pinfiddlequilts.blogspot.com/2014_03_01_archive.html
Saturday, 15 March 2014. My little ray of sunshine (sometimes) Beth joined all us serious stitchers on Thursday night at the Merville group. So 3 generations there, which was great. And she said she really enjoyed it because all the girls were lovely and there was a warm relaxed atmosphere. Her words. She needs to learn a skill for part of her Gold Duke of Edinburgh and if I teach her sewing she will take me to the Palace. I think. She's got this far. Me on the other hand. Life is good in between. I desi...

Pin Fiddle Quilts: August 2013
http://pinfiddlequilts.blogspot.com/2013_08_01_archive.html
Thursday, 15 August 2013. Far too long a blog. The Northern Ireland Patchwork Guild are having an exhibition in Belfast City Hall next month. The title is Cultural Heritage. I am leaving it a bit late, but after a bit of thought and a lot of procrastination, I have decided to enter a piece. I may not make it in time for the deadline, but I will give it a go. During our summer holiday we spent a day in the Somme area of France. We visited Thiepval War Memorial. We took a few grave rubbings. I want to use ...

Pin Fiddle Quilts: Bleaching the birdies.
http://pinfiddlequilts.blogspot.com/2015/03/bleaching-birdies.html
Wednesday, 11 March 2015. At the weekend I decided to have a long stare at my bird quilt that has been sitting about feeling unloved in every way possible. I considered cutting it up into smaller pieces. But when thinking of where to cut I kept finding bits of it that I liked that would be lost in the process. It was actually the middle strip that was annoying my aesthetic brain. So I used bleach! Watered down a bit. It lightened up the whole feeling of the quilt. And now I like it. Here are a few details.

Pin Fiddle Quilts: November 2013
http://pinfiddlequilts.blogspot.com/2013_11_01_archive.html
Monday, 18 November 2013. Small quilt for a small person. Flipping Heck, I havent been on here for a month. I am not a very good blogger. But then I haven't had anything very interesting to blog about. All work and no play. Last week I decided to make a small quilt for a very special small person I know. I bought this fabric at the Festival of Quilts and it has been looking at me for months wondering what it will be turned into. The fabric is Scamper by Birch fabrics. Sorry my lighting isn't the best .

Pin Fiddle Quilts: January 2014
http://pinfiddlequilts.blogspot.com/2014_01_01_archive.html
Friday, 24 January 2014. I have been playing again. Printing and inking and painting and messing! In my sketchbook first. And then on white cotton. I generally just had a lot of fun with this one piece of polystyrene cut into a bird shape. The polystyrene is from a pizza packaging. These pizza bases are great for printing and one side sometimes has a texture on it which adds to the print. It is also good to draw into the polystyrene with say a knitting needle or pencil and then print the image. I really ...

Pin Fiddle Quilts: December 2013
http://pinfiddlequilts.blogspot.com/2013_12_01_archive.html
Thursday, 5 December 2013. Ok, so I haven't made a cushion fit for a gallery, but I have made one with some Art Gallery Fabrics. (Carnaby Street by Art Gallery Fabrics). I have just finished it this morning, complete with binding, which I have never done before. I did curve the corners but next time I would curve them even more. And a zip centre back. I googled how to insert piping on a cushion and also how to insert zips. But alas it's not a happy ending. I need to introduce this. Monday, 2 December 2013.

Pin Fiddle Quilts: February 2015
http://pinfiddlequilts.blogspot.com/2015_02_01_archive.html
Wednesday, 11 February 2015. I have made my two blocks for the Modern Irish Bee and will pop them in the post tomorrow. I think the image is slightly blurred. Each of the squares finishes just one inch, so I'm glad it's only two blocks. I enjoyed piecing as I haven't done any patchwork in a while. It got me in the mood again. Now looking forward to next month whatever it may be. And I have an idea already for my month, which is April! The theme is Reflections. So my head is in a spin thinking about ideas.
