The Hilder and Young Travel Diary. Friday, July 22, 2011. We have arrived in Athens safe and well. We managed to get to the hotel easily enough, but the train from the airport was a mission as there is no information desk at the station to confirm your reckonings. After checking in at the hotel we made contact with Kevin and Eleni who are staying out of Athens in Piraeus with family and we have arranged to meet up with them there tomorrow. We visited the Acropolis and the new Acropolis Museum.

As you have read in an earlier post from Kevin and Eleni on Day 2 — Tuesday 5 July, Sonya and I received a phone call to say my mother was in hospital and in a serious condition. Within hours of getting that call, we got the call nobody wants to get. She had passed away. Thankfully our travel agent was on the ball and she got us and my sister who was also in London at the time, back home on the earliest possible flights. Posted by Greg Young.
