A small group of volunteers has been working with various transportation providers and organizations toward a solution to this problem. Chittenden County Metropolitan Planning Organization (CCMPO). Bus Service and Employer Partners. The Volunteer Driver Program was started in March 2008 and is intended to meet the transportation needs of all Hinesburg residents. Rides are provided to the elderly or disabled who need rides to doctors’ appointments, therapy, grocery store, post office, bank, etc. Also, rides are provided to anyone who may have a temporary injury, car trouble or any other approved need. If a ride is needed, contact SSTA at least 48 hours in advance and a ride will be arranged.

As a member of the Village Steering Committee, which was appointed by the Selectboard to investigate programs that would benefit the village primarily but also the town, Karla Munson started looking at transportation needs. In 2006, she noticed different transportation buses going through town—Addison County Transit Resources (ACTA), Special Services Transportation Agency, (SSTA), and our local On the Go van.
