地球八成以上的體積由岩石組成，並與我們的生活息息相關 大地為萬物提供居所 泥土滋養植物，鞏固食物鏈底層 岩石中的礦物，更是我們大部分日用品的原材料，甚至食物。 地質公園肩負三項任務 第一，保護地質遺跡，保護自然環境 第二，普及地球科學知識，促進公眾科學素質的提高 第三，促進地方經濟與社會的可持續發展。 根據聯合國教科文組織於1999年提出的地質公園概念，地質公園須要附合三項條件 第一，透過合適的規劃、管理和立法，保護地質公園範圍內的景區 第二，鼓勵永續利用地質景點，進行知識傳授活動 第三，在景區及睦鄰地區推廣地質旅遊及地區參與。 另外切記 (一) 切勿敲鑿或塗汚，以及胡亂踐踏或攀爬岩石 (二) 只帶走回憶，不帶走任何石塊、化石或礦物。
