Having tried to get to 30 mins non stop running several times on my own on the treadmill I finally bit the bullet and signed up for a running class to 1) get over my fear of running outside and 2) build up the stamina to run for 3o mins. 8 weeks later and I can run (jog slowly) for 30 mins non stop! 25 min walk in the park. 1*4 run: 2 walk.

Looking back on 2012 I realised I was at my most motivated when I set myself spontaneous mini challenges on the treadmill, like run non stop for 20 minutes, run/walk for 5k faster than before, as far as possible in 10 minutes, etc. So as we head into 2013 I thought I’d come up with a set of mini treadmill challenges…. Run for 30 mins non stop – Done, outside Thurs 29 Aug 😊. Run/walk 30k in one week.

Once I achieved that I started to think about a 5k and signed up and finished the Mo Run on 16th November in 37 mins 12 seconds. Here’s what I’m thinking for 2014…. March – 5k race either the FIT Magazine run or Electric Run (target time: 35 mins). August – 5k Pink Run (target time: 32 mins). 22 March – Electric Run 5k.

I know that I am way too conservative with my running goals. Having tried and failed for so many years to find motivation/willpower/desire to exercise I’ve finally found a formula that works for me, I call it Social Running…. I run with my husband and new running friends. I enter races for fun not to compete. And tagged 5 mile.
