Thursday, August 30, 2012. Moving to France - why the Auvergne? Faithful readers of Sell the Pig. Will already know that my decision to move to France's Auvergne had a lot to do with a certain drinks advert. Back in the 1970s, Dubonnet was advertised with a slogan of, I think, "Way up there" to the sound of the achingly beautiful shepherd's song Bailero. To come across this painted gable end, advertising Dubonnet! But that's another story - perhaps for the sequel to Sell the Pig! Songs of the Auvergne.

September 9, 2011. So took the kids camping last weekend. I took a day’s vacation, which meant we could go set up on Thursday evening, then get three nights there. The main hassle with camping is the setting it all up, so the more nights you can stay the better. About 15 mins before leaving I realised I had lost the mobile mains kit. Dimanche 12 mai 2013. Le 12 Mai 2013. Nous profitons de ce weekend à rallonge pour se rendre quelques jours en Auvergne, avec bien entendu l'objectif du trail de l'Améthyste (40 km, D 1600m), mais aussi profiter de ce cadre pour changer d'air! Donc le vendredi nous arrivons à St Etienne sur Usson (proche d'Issoire) pour passer 3 jours en excellente compagnie de Christine et Jeff (en français 😉). Nous sommes en chambre d'hôtes " Les Hirondelles. Lac Pavin (d'origine volcanique), au pied de Super Besse.

Vendredi 9 mai 2014. Trail de l'Améthyste, édition 2014. 4 mai 2014, il est 9h et je suis sur la ligne de départ de mon 1er trail de la saison! Ça parait être une anecdote mais dans le contexte actuel c'est très important pour moi. En effet après 3 mois d'interruption (presque total) en raison d'une entorse qui tarde à guérir je n'ai pas encore assisté à une seule course, même si mon calendrier. De début de saison était ambitieux. C'est après un excellent séjour (comme d'habitude) au Chabanol.

Samedi 8 février 2014. Voilà depuis hier les dés sont jetés et mon inscription. Du coup je peux consolider mon calendrier pour l'année 2014 (du moins jusqu'au GRP). Les 1er et 2 Mars, le 1er rendez vous sera à Volvic pour le marathon du Trail du Vulcain. Ce sera ma 2ème participation après 2013. Très bon souvenir avec une épreuve parcourue à 80% dans la neige! On vous racontera…. Ensuite fin Avril pour le weekend de Pâques et le traditionnel trail des Citadelles. Et tous ses habitants :-). Bien entendu, ...
