George Lambton Playing Fields. The proposal is for the George Lambton public playing fields to be replaced by a supermarket. The playing fields are unique, very well used and irreplaceable in the town. There is no need for another supermarket. Another supermarket at the edge of town will lead to even less people shopping on the High Street, which already has vacant shops. Why is it happening? The title holder of the land is trying to tear up the playing fields, which is not his property until 2068.
