Journal of a sea-faring pianist. Friday, July 28, 2006. Getting down to business. Friday 28th July 2006. The last couple of nights have probably been the busiest so far, especially Wednesday night the bar was fully occupied for most of the evening, and initially the audience were a bit of a tough cookie to crack, but I soon took care of that by playing some golden oldies and giving it some, in fact it was the first night where I actually broke a sweat whilst playing! The Road to Damascus: April 2007
http://dave-damascus.blogspot.com/2007_04_01_archive.html
The Road to Damascus. The ranting and raving(! Of a young Englishman living in Damascus. Doing' Jordan part 2. Sorry about the delay folks - I've been busy with teaching. Anyways, here's part two of my adventures in Jordan. I had a nice evening here - I was even offered a job teaching English by a couple of teachers whom I got talking to in the town centre (most notable for it's statue of Salah ad-Din). The following day I checked out the things that Madaba is famous for - mosaics. Many of the churches h...

Journal of a sea-faring pianist. Wednesday, January 31, 2007. Tuesday 30th January 2007. Last night was very quiet, by the time I went back up to do my 11 o’clock set there were only three people in the bar so I decided to round things off and went downstairs to the show-bar where things were equally as slow-going. A nice breather though considering the previous four nights had been busy. Wednesday 31st January 2007. Posted by Charles Stickley @ 12:48 pm. Monday, January 29, 2007. Friday 26th January 2007.

Maritime Musician: September 2006
http://pianomad.blogspot.com/2006_09_01_archive.html
Journal of a sea-faring pianist. Monday, September 18, 2006. Sunday 17th September 2006. Last night went very well except for a very rowdy group of Germans who were sat behind me for most of the evening. Still I soldiered on undeterred and all the songs that I played went down very well. There were two older couples sat next to the piano from Northern Ireland who were listening intently throughout the evening which was very encouraging. Not wanting to sound too big headed, but the fleet director from P&O...

Journal of a sea-faring pianist. Tuesday, August 29, 2006. Lows, highs, and clear skies. Tuesday 29th August 2006. Went to the do at James’ on Friday and that was good, there was a well-timed temporary lull in the unfavourable weather and we had a couple of hours of warm unbroken sunshine. We had some food and a couple of drinks and I lay on the back lawn for a while which I found very therapeutic. Was stood on the deck earlier tonight, and for the first time in a while the sky was completely clear. ...

http://pianomad.blogspot.com/2007_03_01_archive.html
Journal of a sea-faring pianist. Saturday, March 24, 2007. The rough and the smooth. Wednesday 21st March 2007. On Sunday night I decided to do something original and play all of my instrumental pieces during my first set in the key of C. Nobody seemed to notice! Jo, who was working as the children’s entertainer on the York last year, is in Hull for a few days, I got to see her for a few hours yesterday afternoon and catch up which was good as I hadn’t seen her since the beginning of November. Wednesday ...
