Programs and Services have two primary focuses; to operate an Emergency Response Team to quickly deal with cases of abuse, and to bring awareness and education of elder abuse to the community. TOLL FREE 24 HOUR PHONE LINE. 1-800-264-6671 is answered by trained staff at Victim Crisis Assistance Response Services of Haldimand Norfolk. Geriatric Psychiatry of Haldimand Norfolk facilitated a workshop in June 1995 during which community agency participants recognized the need to address elder abuse. A steering committee was struck. Initial funding was provided by Health Canada through the Partners in Aging Program.
