Du rustique à l'avant-gardiste, le bois utilisé en extérieur offre, par la variété des moyens de mise en œuvre, de nombreuses possibilités de style. Dans la réhabilitation de bâtis anciens, cette solution permet une amélioration des performances tout en évitant les phénomènes de "ponts thermiques", fréquents en rénovation. En effet, la création d'une "seconde peau" garantit la continuité de la barrière isolante. En outre, cette technique n'implique pas les désagréments de travaux intérieurs.
