Kraken Up" Our Adventures on a Cape Dory Typhoon. Cape dory typhoon adventures. Wednesday, June 24, 2015. Boom tent, pond yachts and sunset wings. It's been a while since my last post and it was a week one with no pictures. So here is a mildly better one. This is an interior view it is quite spacious. However I need to work on ventilation it is super muggy and hot inside. There would be little hope of spending the entire night in here with the Stagnet air. I found our flag! Kraken Up" Our Adventures on a Cape Dory Typhoon. Cape dory typhoon adventures. Tuesday, December 23, 2014. Typhoon Half Hull and Dumas Pond Yachts. So I have decided to start the half hull project. The boom tent is still in the back of my head. I just keep thinking I will need to get on and off the boat to take a few more measurements as I sew that up and with it under the winter cover that could be tricky. Here I am starting to lay out the chines. The line drawings came from Todd Dunn link here. Her st...

Kraken Up" Our Adventures on a Cape Dory Typhoon. Cape dory typhoon adventures. Monday, July 27, 2015. This weekend we had a great group of friends come down for the weekend. We grilled, we swam, we watched fireworks go bam. We even got in a little sailing in before everyone got there. The Typhoon is a great fun boat but when you have a crowd over it is little. Here are a few things I do to make things a bit more comfortable. Second get out the cushions. Sunday, July 12, 2015. He stopped my train of thou...

"Kraken Up" Our Adventures on a Cape Dory Typhoon: Arm Chair Sailing
http://bristol-blue.blogspot.com/2015/05/arm-chair-sailing.html
Kraken Up" Our Adventures on a Cape Dory Typhoon. Cape dory typhoon adventures. Saturday, May 30, 2015. May 31, 2015 at 2:01 AM. I can empathize with your plight. Rain does dampen spirits for sailing. Ive not found a sailing app that I really enjoy. And, Im very competitive with a non-competitive boat, so I dont prefer a race other than one I may find on the open water. Im working a couple of metal issues this week with my favorite metal workers in town. Subscribe to: Post Comments (Atom). At the start I...

http://svbrighteyes.blogspot.com/2011_05_01_archive.html
The Search For Bright Waters. Tuesday, May 31, 2011. Good Bye George Town, Heading Back North. Well we have been here in George Town for just over 6 weeks. We have made this our temporary home and are quite comfortable. We haven't been too adventurous lately but we are enjoying ourselves. We still read a lot. Christine even wrote a 42,000 word book herself and is working on her second book. I have been practicing the guitar everyday and play Star Craft 2, an online video game at night. We invited Franswa...

Bright Eyes: June 2011
http://svbrighteyes.blogspot.com/2011_06_01_archive.html
The Search For Bright Waters. Wednesday, June 29, 2011. Bright Eyes in Peril. We enjoyed three calm days at Normans Cay. We got some grub at the Normans Cay Beach Club. It was expensive of course but much needed. Our desired destination of Eluethera did not offer much but Nassau had an advertisement. So that's where we decided to go. We used our manual windlass to crank up 120ft of anchor rode against the wind. That was no fun. We then sailed in the direction of Nassau by 8:30am. We drifted our way into ...

Bright Eyes: August 2011
http://svbrighteyes.blogspot.com/2011_08_01_archive.html
The Search For Bright Waters. Monday, August 1, 2011. Epilogue: Bright Eyes Gets A New Engine. We are still here in Ft. Lauderdale working on the engine. After getting a bunch of quotes and talking to mechanics we found that it was just as expensive to swap in a new engine. So we are now awaiting a fully rebuilt Yanmar 3GM30 with a one year warranty! At that point we will put Bright Eyes in a slip somewhere between here and Stuart Florida and leave it with a broker to sell. Make us an offer! First Weeken...

Bright Eyes: Bright Eyes is Back in America.....The End
http://svbrighteyes.blogspot.com/2011/07/bright-eyes-is-back-in-americathe-end.html
The Search For Bright Waters. Saturday, July 23, 2011. Bright Eyes is Back in America. The End. We planned to leave Nassau asap Thursday morning but things didn't go so well. We ended up tying off to a near by mooring ball while I pulled the old ruins anchor into the dinghy and untangled it. Around 2pm we were finally free. We untied from the mooring, raised the sails and left Nassau behind. At first we were using 8 hour shifts to get plenty of sleep but the sleep underway wasn't any good so we switched t...
