Watching wildlife since the sixties. September 15, 2009. Last Saturday we had family over for the day, so we visited the Tea museum in Houwerzijl. I’m not much of a tea drinker, so I got bored after about 2,5 minutes. The gardens were a lot more interesting. They had a pond with lovely lilies and a green frog. 🙂 I don’t really know…. Watching wildlife since the sixties. March 1, 2015. We love our wildlife-friendly garden and are planning a big pond to make it even more attractive to all sorts of animals and insects, like dragonflies, amphibians, birds and small mammals like hedgehogs, weasels and stoats. We didn’t actually have the neighbourhood deer on our minds, until we found their tracks and droppings in our garden. They feed on grass, leaves, berries, and young shoots. Not too alarming. Then I read the Dutch page.

Watching wildlife since the sixties. August 24, 2012. The Black Rhino (Hook-lipped Rhinoceros) used to be the most numerous of the world’s rhino species. There are less than 5000 left in Africa today, which is 90% lower than three generations ago. So you can imagine how thrilled we were to spot one! The Black Rhino faces a variety of threats. The main threat is poaching for the international rhino horn trade. Larr; Sealed with a kiss. International Vulture Awareness Day – IVAD 2012 →. A DC Birding Blog.

Watching wildlife since the sixties. March 1, 2015. Just as I stepped outside, this Great egret flew over. I was just in time to snap a photo. There are dozens of them in the surrounding meadows in the region of Bellingwolde. I think they forage for mice there. Larr; A Wildlife-Friendly Garden. On How to sleep in a tree.
